OUR NEW WEBSITE IS LIVE!!
For several months now a great deal of work has been undertaken to create a new website www.hrs.wa.edu.au for our school which reflects the way in which people today search for and read information. The new product is beautifully constructed, and I hope that you will take a look, and refer people asking about our school to it to get a sense of our place. There is the option on the site to book a visit should they choose to do so, or, as always, they are welcome to just swing by.
Our thanks go to:

NEW SCHOOL FINISH TIME
SCHOOL UNIFORM – SPORTS SHOES
The uniform is being worn well. We had a couple of hiccups with changes to days on which to wear sports uniform, but that’s over!
The only lingering issue is that of sports shoes. Thank you to everyone who has abided by the Uniform Policy http://www.hrs.wa.edu.au/images/pdf/Uniform_policy2011.pdf
‘mainly white shoes’ rule. This is not a difficult one to abide by and the vast majority of student are wearing suitable shoes, which we appreciate. Particular brands are not mandated in order to ensure flexibility of purchase, but the expectation of mainly white shoes gives some ‘uniformity’. Accordingly we ask that children not wearing suitable sports shoes (i.e. shoes not mainly white), do so within the next two weeks. We could send an ‘Out of Uniform’ note home with the children, but we’d prefer to have the resolution done in this general way. Thank you for your understanding.
School Fee Accounts
Thank you for your patience. School Fees were emailed yesterday. Please let the Office know if you have not received your school fee account as in some instances the account might appear in your junk folder. If any families have made a payment after 31st January, it will not appear on your statement.
The school has been allocated a new BPAY Biller Code which is 279596. This new BPAY Biller Code must be used for all school fee payments made from 1 January 2018. This new BPAY Biller Code will appear on all future Fee Statements.
IF YOU HAVE THE OLD BPAY BILLER CODE SAVED IN YOUR INTERNET BANKING PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU CHANGE IT TO THE NEW CODE.

Dads’ and Kids’ Camp Out: This year the event will be on Saturday 17 March on the school oval. Its a great opportunity for Dads to meet other Dads from the school and for the kids to have a great time (and give the Mums a well-earned rest). Dads are required to complete the Attendance Sheet and Code of Conduct and return to the school office with money by Tuesday 13 March. If there are any Dads wanting to lend a hand, get in touch with Nathan Byrne (firstname.lastname@example.org) to see what you can do.

Rosary Care School Coordinator: Lisa Vilé
For those of you that do not know me, I have been part of the Holy Rosary school community since 2008. I currently have two children at the school, Annaliese in Year 6 and Christian in Year 2. During this time I have become involved with Rosary Care, which is a parish-based, short term crisis, care and support group. Rosary Care is made up of volunteers who help out with providing meals, company, transport or home help for families or individuals who need a little extra support.
If you know of anyone who may need some extra support, or who may be interested in joining our volunteer group, please contact me on my mobile 0431955863. Otherwise, feel free to come and have a chat with me after school in the undercover area.
Thanks everyone! – Regards Lisa

FAQ is Back !
What’s with the ipads?
You will have seen many examples already this year of the varied and interesting ways in which technology is used at Holy Rosary. Holy Rosary runs a 1-1 device programme for children in Years 1-6. At this time, for reasons of cost, performance and reliability, ipads are the device of choice. The school leases and manages all the devices and employs a teacher (Caroline Mullins) to manage the programme.
Children entering Year One receive a new ipad, and this is replaced with another new ipad at the beginning of Year Four. Our experience at Holy Rosary has been that there is a loss of performance if devices are kept for more than three years, so we replace them to ensure children have access to the latest, reliable, high performance device. The devices are able to run the latest software and apps, and battery charge is good enough to get through the day. The iPads are being managed by a new Mobile Device Management system called Zuludesk which, from term two, will also make it easier for parents to place controls on their child’s device for use at home.
In the event that a device stops working, we have spare devices at school for the children to use so that there is no ‘down time.’
The judicious use of technology is an important consideration at school, and as such the devices are used to aid in the achievement of learning outcomes.
Everybody knows that technology changes at a rapid rate, and it is frustrating when devices don’t work. Centralising the leasing and management of devices, and renewing them regularly means our children have a good experience with technology.
The IT levy covers the cost of the iPad, insurance, apps, and management. A significant portion of the levy also contributes to the infrastructure (wireless switches, servers display screens to name a few), SEQTA engage, Microsoft licensing and Leading Lights costs (which includes internet access and filtering).
