Upcoming Testing for Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Students
Please be aware of these assessments and when students will be taking each one. We invite you to talk to your students about these assessments and the valuable data that they provide about growth in student learning.
Freshman Testing Dates:
- NWEA Reading: April 25th-26th
- NWEA Math: May 2nd-3rd
Sophomore Testing Dates:
- MCA Reading: April 19th-20th
- NWEA Math Assessment [Only for students in Algebra IIA]: May 2nd-3rd
Junior Testing Dates:
- MCA Math: April 4th-5th
- ACT: April 19th
- MCA Science: TBD [May 1st-12th]
Should your student(s) be absent for any of the above testing days, make-up dates have been assigned for each assessment.
Please encourage your students to be well-rested, eat a good breakfast, do their best on these exams! Please call Mankato West High School at (507) 387-3461 with any questions.
P4T Presents: Parents, Teens, and Digital Relationships
Project for Teens is partnering with the Greater Mankato United Way to sponsor an event for parents and children to learn more about the impact of digital relationships in our daily lives.

AVID Program Brings in Community Partners
- John Considine III, a former West graduate and the Director of Regional Business Intelligence with Greater Mankato Growth, shared his personal college and career journey with AVID 11/12 students while also highlighting the three prevalent industries in our area: agriculture, manufacturing and healthcare. John talked about opportunities within each of the industries and educated students on the difference between traded and local industry clusters.
- Andrew Johnson, MSU Professor of Education and Literacy Instruction, spoke to the AVID 9/10 classes about college life, study habits and tips, how to prepare for college and career and his personal life journey.
- Kami Patrin, Recruitment and Hiring coordinator for Monarch Management, taught the AVID 9/10 classes about careers in the healthcare field, specific careers available through Monarch Management, resume and interview tips and her personal college/career journey.
- Emily Combs, Plant Scientist with DuPont Pioneer, engaged the AVID 11/12 classes with her experience in the agriculture and science field, defined and educated on plant breeding, talked about what is needed to succeed in the field and what a typical day’s work is like for her.
