2019-20 BUDGET APPROVED BY WEBSTER CSD COMMUNITY AND BOE MEMBERS ELECTED
Special thanks to the Webster CSD community for making your voices heard on Tuesday, May 21, regarding the proposed 2019-20 district budget and board of education election. The budget was approved by a 68% margin. We also congratulate Tammy Gurowski, Linda Dioguardi, and Maria Rigillo who district voters elected to three-year terms on the board of education, beginning on July 1.
The board also thanks members of the Budget Advisory Committee (BAC) for their participation in the 2019-20 budget process. If you would like to learn more about the development of school district budgets, we encourage you to serve on the 2020-21 BAC. Please email Lisa Borrino in the district’s business office, Lisa_Borrino@webstercsd.org, if you are interested.
WEBSTER CSD, EMERGENCY RESPONDERS ANNOUNCE LARGE-SCALE DRILL ON JUNE 27
Webster CSD is partnering with area fire, emergency medical service, and police agencies to stage a large-scale emergency drill that will provide all agencies valuable feedback.
The drill takes place on Thursday, June 27 at Schlegel Road Elementary School, 1548 Schlegel Road, from 8:30 a.m.-11:00 p.m. Safety during the drill is paramount for all involved, thus necessitating the need for Schlegel Road to be temporarily closed to traffic from Phillips Road to Salt Road. Webster Special Police will direct traffic at these intersections to provide local resident access. (Please note that Webster schools are closed for the summer at the time of this event.)
During the drill, Webster CSD, Webster Police Department, Webster Volunteer Fire Department, West Webster Volunteer Fire Department, Webster Emergency Medical Service, and Northeast Quadrant Advanced Life will simulate and respond to a large-scale school incident to test these agencies’ coordinated response. On-site evaluators will be present throughout to provide feedback that will help develop an after action plan (AAP) that will be provided to all participating agencies to assist with future trainings and any additional needs.

8th Grade Science (not Living Environment students)
The performance portion of this State Assessment (not a common core exam) is on Wednesday, May 22nd during the students science class. The written portion of the exam will be on June 3rd. This will occur during the morning of the school day like we do for Math/ELA Testing. This is not a common core test and has remained generally consistent over the years. A couple questions have come up about opting out. While I encourage students to take this assessment, the decision for any opting out of Middle Level State Exams is up to families. You can send any questions or opt out communication to Mr. Baehr at: james_baehr@webstercsd.org.
8th Graders taking the Foreign Language Assessment (Spanish, French, German).
This assessment is on Friday, June 21st. Our 8th graders taking a foreign language will take their normal bus to Spry in the morning on the 21st. Once testing is complete (~10:15 am), buses will be transporting students home for Summer Break! There is no testing or school for our 8th graders the following week.
Regents Exams
For those student taking Regents Exams, we will be sending a letter home with students soon outlining the plan for those days. Living Environment is on June 18th, Algebra is on June 19th, and Geometry is June 21st. Students will report to Spry as normal on the 18th and 19th. Those taking the regents exams will eat lunch early those days and we will be busing them over to Schroeder for the 12:00 pm exams. Again, more details in the letters coming home soon. Geometry is at Schroeder on the 21st in the morning (8:00 exam), so the small group of students that this effects will take their bus in the morning to Schroeder. We will be busing them back to Spry after the Regents so they can take their Foreign Language Competency Assessment with their teacher. A letter will be sent home with these students detailing this.
