Holiday Update

December 18, 2020

Happy Holidays!

Wishing you all a happy, healthy holiday season! We appreciate your ongoing partnership as we work together to best support your precious children!

Thank you to all our families who participated in the gift card drives at LMS and LHS to support local families through the Department of Children and Families! Your generosity and thoughtfulness bring so much joy to families who are struggling to provide gifts for their children.

Reminder- December 21st and December 22nd

Just a reminder that Monday December 21st is a blue cohort day of in person learning and Tuesday December 22nd is a gold cohort day of in person learning. The school buildings will be deep cleaned on Monday night.

Hybrid to Full Remote Students

Effective January 4th, if a parent requests their child(ren) move from hybrid to full remote, the child(ren) will be required to remain in remote for one month. This includes if you move your child(ren) to remote for a vacation. The only exception is if your child(ren) are full remote due to a temporary quarantine that was a result of a COVID exposure.

Also, teachers have at least 48 hours to provide work for your child(ren) if you make the decision to go from hybrid to full remote. This decision is in the best interest of the continuity of learning for all students in the classroom.

Vacation Reminder

Please be reminded of our district vacation policy which states that teachers are not obligated to provide students with work during their vacation and LPS does not support families taking vacations while school is in session.

Important: Attestation Expectation

To date we have not received a signed attestation from a number of our families. If you have already submitted your form, thank you for your time and effort. It is our expectation that all families follow the protocols in the attestation. As a result, if you have not signed and returned the form, we will assume that you agree and are following the protocols in the attestation. If you do not agree, please contact me to discuss.

K-12 Student Attestation

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Remote Learning Week January 4-8th, 2021

We will be having all students remain remote as a proactive safety measure. The number of cases the we experienced after the Thanksgiving holiday have informed this decision. We are hopeful that this decision prevents further interruptions to learning January as we saw happen this month.

All Cohort A students will be attending school in person that week and parents of these students will be required to complete a daily attestation.

Students will return to in person in our hybrid on January 11th, 2021.

Travel Policy Reminder

Please note the change to our Travel Policy effective October 23, 2020. It is imperative that all families follow this travel policy:

Travel Policy: If a student/staff member travels outside of the approved lower-risk states by the Commonwealth of Massachuesetts, either of the following two conditions must be met before a student/staff member can return to the school building:

1. Produce a negative COVID-19 test result from a test that is administered at least 5 days after arrival back into the state of Massachusetts. The result of this test must be given to the COVID liaison before returning to the building.

2. Quarantine for 14 days from the date of arrival back into the state of Massachusetts.

Curriculum At A Glance

In response to the Pandemic and our new educational landscape, we felt it would be helpful to share our curriculum overview for our grade levels and courses of study. Please note this is a framework and not a prescription, especially considering our new normal. This overview is available for most courses of study. We will continue to update this site as more maps are ready for release as curriculum development is continually evolving.

In Partnership With A Healthy Lynnfield, Lynnfield SEPAC, and Lynnfield Community Schools

We appreciate our ongoing partnership with A Healthy Lynnfield. Thank you for supporting so many of our educational programs within our school community!

Stress, Resiliency, Self-Care - Wednesday, January 27, 2021 - 6:30-8:00pm (Zoom)

We are pleased to have Windi Bowditch, Director of Clinical Training and Consultation, LMHC at the Northshore Education Consortium, present to our parent community. Our educators had an opportunity to listen to Windi as part of our professional development program earlier this month.

Join us as we learn about the many factors of our current world that can contribute to toxic stress and the impact it can have on our brains and overall functioning. Additionally, we will focus on resilience strategies and the importance of self-care in navigating through these difficult times. The challenges of parenting in a pandemic and an otherwise stressful world will also be discussed.
