Updates
Road Construction:
Expect continued construction and periodic road closures on Cedar Run Rd and Gallagher Rd due to utility work. Entering via N. Long Lake Rd is the best route to avoid unexpected delays.

Courses are online-based with certified teacher support and class times provided July 10th to August 3rd, Monday through Thursdays, from 8am to noon at West Senior High School in the library. Courses will open as early as June 28th and will close at the end of the day August 3rd. Orientation will be held July 5th at 8am and 10am so students can meet teachers and troubleshoot any start-up issues. Attendance is required 2 hours per day for those re-taking a course and optional for those taking an initial course.
Freshmen Field Trip to MiCareerQuest
MiCareerQuest is a career and college readiness event for 9th-grade students to showcase the high-demand, high-wage jobs in Northwest Michigan!Students will have the opportunity to:
- Talk one-on-one with working professionals in a variety of fields
- Touch, feel, and work with actual workplace equipment, tools, and technology
- Connect classroom learning with real work jobs and their requirements

The field trip will take place on Thursday, May 11 from approximately 12:00 - 2:30 pm. All freshmen will take 1st lunch prior to leaving for the field trip.
AP Testing Information
Monday, May 1st kicks off AP Testing. AP Testing will take place over the next two weeks. Depending on the AP Exam subject, standard time exams will range between 2-4 hours in length. Students will need to arrive in the small gym no later than 7:45 am for the morning session and 11:45 am for the afternoon session. Attendance and punctuality are very important. Students should bring pencils, a black or blue pen, and a calculator (if needed). Cell phones and smart watches are strictly prohibited.
Most AP Exams will be administered in the small gym unless a student is pre-approved for testing accommodations via CollegeBoard (IEP or 504 Plan). Alternate testing locations due to CollegeBoard-approved accommodation will be communicated to the student prior to the AP Exam. Most accommodated exams will take place in the Counseling Office.
Bells will be off most of the time over the next two weeks while testing takes place. Academic Assistance will be closed on the following dates to support AP Testing:
- Monday, May 1 (1st through 4th hours)
- Tuesday, May 2 (4th through 6th hours)
- Tuesday, May 9 (All day)

There will be no ticket sales at the door.

TCAPS Pre-Bond Meetings
TCAPS Pre-Bond Meetings
TCAPS families and the greater community are invited to attend pre-bond information sessions held May 1 and 2 at each school building. The sessions will provide an overview of the bond planning process and provide opportunities for feedback from participants in preparation for a TCAPS bond proposal in 2024.
All sessions will be led by the team hired by the Board of Education to provide pre-bond planning services which include but are not limited to: facility assessments, cost estimating, planning, and community engagement.

Signing Day: May 17 is the Spring NCAA Athlete Signing Ceremony. Please make sure Mrs. Rickenburg has your information ASAP if you plan on participating in this event.
Open Gyms: Off-season open gyms for girls basketball, boys basketball and volleyball are taking place this spring. Please stop down for information in the athletic office. Open gyms are a great way to get connected or stay connected with the sport-- ALL ARE WELCOME. Days and times often change with these informal workouts.
Titan Athletics Incoming 9th Grade FAQ
Congrats to Class of 2018 Traverse City West Titan Football Alum Ryan Hayes on being selected by the Miami Dolphins in the 2023 NFL Draft! Ryan was an outstanding student and athlete at Central Grade, West Middle and West Senior High before playing football at the University of Michigan. Ryan was on the top O-line in America, won two Big 10 Championships and played in two College Football Playoffs for the Wolverines. Ryan will be the 4th TC West Titan to play in the NFL!
