Nice work!
You all rocked it!
Thank you!
Thank you for letting me sit in on your group's meeting- I just love this stuff! Fantastic work identifying the "Power Standards" and some of the teams were even moving on to their "Learning Targets/Performance Indicators". It's so refreshing to see professionals passionate and committed to their work! Seriously...
Now, go home and enjoy your weekend!
Coming Attractions
Many of you had great questions about what is next. Now that we've poured the foundation, we can start framing out with those "2 X 4"s. Those structural components called "Learning Targets/Performance Indicators" can be thought of as us taking the next steps of construction. They are the "action words" that students do to work toward being proficient in the standard (s).
Professional Learning Communities
I'm sure all of the PLCs are well are their way- it came to mind that conversations might be able to include those cross-curriculum overlaps. For example, when the science department has the students write their lab report, they will also be using the "Writing Power Standard", etc. In addition to having your own "Power Standards" on the report card, I would venture to say that many content areas will have 1-3 ELA "Power Standards". Just some food for thought...
