GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) Announcement!
In accordance with the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented students, Harmony Public Schools will begin taking second semester referrals for all interested students in grades K-12 for gifted and talented screening.

The referral forms must be returned to the front office or to your student's classroom teacher by Friday, February 7, 2020. The 2020 Spring GT testing window is February 10, 2020 - March 31, 2020. After testing, the committee will review all documents and results will be communicated by April 30, 2020.

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) at Home!
January Focus is Self-Awareness
Identifying Emotions: Allowing students to name what they're feeling.
Best Practices You Can Start At Home:
-Give students options of questions:
"I notice right now you seem upset. Is that accurate?"
"Can you show me what you're feeling right now?"
"Can you name 3 feelings that you are having right now?"
-Using a feelings chart to help students identify emotions.
-Feeling check-ins with your kids. Parents join in with kids and model identifying their own emotions too.
-High's and Lows: "What was the best part of your day?" "What was the worst part of your day?"
Remind your students no feeling is bad, it is what we do with our feelings. Kids need to feel safe to express an array of feelings!
