Mini Grits And Greens

This dish is very popular in the south, it is a small dish that people usually make for gatherings. It contains many delicious items. One delicious bite of this appetizer will make you want more and more. Grits are very popular food item in the south and with all of the greens in it, it allows this to be a very healthy but tasty appetizer.

  • 1 cup chicken broth

  • 1/3 cup half-and-half

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup uncooked regular grits

  • 1/2 cup (2 oz.) freshly shredded Cheddar cheese

  • 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce

  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

  • 8 large fresh collard green leaves

  • 2 small dry Spanish chorizo sausage links (about 2 3/4 oz.)

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar

  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar

  • 36 porcelain tasting spoons, warmed


There is some argument as to where specifically the martini was first invented, but every single story leads back to somewhere in the Bay Area around the end of the nineteenth century. Dry Vermouth

2 ounces gin, chilled


Pour a little bit of dry vermouth in a chilled martini glass and swirl to coat the inside of the glass. Dispose of excess vermouth. In a shaker full of ice, gently swirl or stir the gin before straining into glass.

Spicy Pakistani Zucchini


  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat; saute onion until golden (about 5 minutes).

  2. Add zucchini, salt, water, chile powder, turmeric, garlic powder, coriander, cloves, peppercorns, tomatoes and yogurt and stir all together. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

We chose this dish because many Pakistani dishes are spicy with vegetables. Malala Yousafzai is from Swat Valley, Pakistan, and grew up with her mother making many spicy dishes with vegetables.

¼ cup cooking oil, 1 onion thinly sliced, 6 zucchini peeled seeded and cut into semicircles,½ teaspoon salt, 2 cups water, 2 teaspoons chili powder, ½ teaspoon ground turmeric, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon ground coriander seed, 3 whole cloves, 7 whole peppercorns, 4 chopped tomatoes

Chocolate Truffle Cake


  • 2-½ cups 2% milk

  • 1 cup cubed butter

  • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped

  • 6 tablespoons butter, cubed

  • 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped

  • 2-½ cups confectioners sugar

  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream


  • 10 ounces of semisweet chocolate, chopped

  • ⅔ cup heavy whipping cream

This dish was chosen because Anne Frank lives in a room behind a bookcase for an extended period of time and resources are limited, a dessert like this would be an excellent way to break from the constant bad life style.
