Lifetouch Photography Apology
August 31, 2018
Dear Families of Rose Glen Elementary:
Thank you for allowing Lifetouch to photograph your students at Rose Glen Elementary. We consider it a privilege to serve your school and always strive to provide the highest quality portraits and products. Unfortunately, we have heard that our Picture Day execution was not up to our normal standards. I'm particularly disappointed with our performance, given my wife's (Cindy Kind) family attended your school back in the 70's and early 80's.
We realize this may have caused frustration for your family and Lifetouch takes full responsibility for the delay that you may have experienced during Picture Day. As a token of our appreciation, we want to provide your families this special offer: $10 off a portrait purchase, plus free shipping. Use the coupon code PICS4RG at checkout on Mylifetouch.com. This offer is valid until November 30, 2018.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused your family and the Rose Glen Staff. We value the relationship we have with your school and thank you for your commitment to Lifetouch.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me directly at 952-826-4029 or twargolet@lifetouch.com.
Sincerely,
Tom Wargolet
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

NEW SAFETY INFORMATION
Our first and most important goal is to keep our children safe during the school day. Therefore we are making adjustments to ensure that we are able to provide the safest learning environment possible. We will do our best to keep our school as safe as possible and we appreciate your support and your willingness to work together to create the safest learning environment for our students. Your role is critical to our success!
Please also know that we complete monthly safety drills to ensure that all staff and students are familiar with the procedures for each of our drills. We continue to work with our local officials to enhance safety practices and procedures. Please do not be surprised if you see an officer within the building or a squad car sitting outside the school. They are also committed to ensuring the safest school possible.
Drop-Off:
All students should go around to the playground for morning supervision. Drop-off should occur at Walkers Circle. The front doors will be locked and adults will need to be buzzed into the front if there is a need to get into the building. If a parent or family member is dropping something off then the item can be dropped off at the office. ALL INDIVIDUALS MUST BE BUZZED IN. PLEASE DO NOT PROP THE DOOR OPEN AND LET ANYONE IN AFTER YOU ARE ALLOWED ACCESS.
Pick-Up:
Families must utilize Walkers Circle for pick-up if their child is not taking the bus home at the end of the day. Moving forward families will not be allowed to congregate in the foyer and/or office area at the end of the day. Starting this year the doors will remain locked after school and all guests inside the building must be buzzed in for a specific reason (teacher meeting, picking up from Cool School, etc.) This will ensure that the building is secure for 24 hours a day and this allows us to more accurately monitor who is coming in and out of the building.
School Day:
All visitors must be buzzed in and have a purpose for being in the building. All visitors must first report to the office. Visitors SHOULD NOT go directly to a classroom or other part of the building. All visitors must sign-in and sign-out of the building and this will occur at the office. Additionally, if a parent or family member is dropping something off (lunch, iPad, assignment, etc.) then this will occur at the office and the office will ensure that the item gets to the appropriate location. If you are arriving late to school we ask that you drop your child off at the office and we will ensure that they get to their classroom. If you are picking your child up please come to the office and we will call for your child to come up to the office to be picked up. There should not be any reason for you to go down to your child’s classroom unless you are scheduled to volunteer or have a scheduled meeting with the teacher. Following these procedures will allow us to have a strong sense of who is in the building and their purpose for being in the building.
Lunch Visits:
If you are visiting your child for lunch it is required that you sign-in and sign-out for this special visit. CELL PHONE USE IS PROHIBITED IN THE LUNCHROOM. This includes taking calls, texting, and/or taking photos. You will kindly be asked to leave the lunchroom if the above behaviors are seen. Please do not be offended as the lunch assistants are just following the procedures. If you need to take a call or send a text, then please leave the lunchroom.
Considerations:
The start of the day and the end of the day are extremely busy times for our office and our teachers. Therefore, we asking for your assistance in creating the smoothest possible day possible for all of us.
Pick-Up Changes:
Please be mindful that we have almost 500 kids that we are responsible for at the end of the day. We work diligently to ensure that all get to the right location. If you need to change your child’s pick-up arrangements then please provide us with adequate time to ensure that the changes can occur. Please do not call the office at the end of the school day (after 3:00) to try and change plans. It is preferred that a note is sent to the teacher in the morning (email or written) so that this change can occur without difficulty. When numerous phone calls come in after 3:00 this makes it very difficult to connect with each teacher in a timely manner. We understand that unique circumstances can arise and we are more than happy to assist. However, when the office is getting flooded with multiple calls each day at the end of the day then it becomes more challenging to effectively and efficiently connect with teachers to ensure that a child goes where you need them to go. Your help and support with this is greatly appreciated and will help for the end of the day to go smoothly for all!
PARKING LOT
PARKING LOT INFORMATION:
We have just about 10 big yellow buses that arrive and depart daily from Rose Glen. The buses arrive at the front of the building and kids exit the bus and go to the back playground. Mr. Mosley, our fabulous physical education teacher, will be in front to direct any kids that might not know where to go and ensure that they get to the back playground.
4K MORNING DROP-OFF:
Parking in the lot should be reserved for 4K families dropping off, special events that require you or your child having to carry something in the building, or a meeting that might be scheduled. Otherwise, please use Walkers Circle to drop your child off in the morning. Also, please exercise extreme caution when driving in our lot in the morning. There are a lot of kids coming off of buses and we ask that you put their safety first when in our parking. Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas. Please do not be offended if we offer a friendly reminder about the expectations of the parking lot. Again, our only goal is to keep everyone safe.
Walker's Circle Drop-Off
NEW THIS YEAR!
A crosswalk has been added to provide a safe pathway for families from Rose Glen to the Cider Hills neighborhood. Additionally, STOP signs have also been added to slow cars down and to ensure that families are able to cross without having to worry about on-coming traffic. These STOP signs will be activated from 8:15-8:40 and 3:30-3:50.
General Drop-Off Procedures:
All cars should enter through the ENTRANCE ONLY to drop children off.
There is NO PARKING IN WALKERS’ CIRCLE. It is intended for fluid drop-off of children. Please exit quickly and cautiously. Be mindful that others are waiting to drop-off and unnecessary stopping causes delays and interferes with the purpose of Walkers Circle.
Cars can exit and turn left from the left lane or turn right from the right lane. NO U-Turns, no Y-Turn, no backing up and out through the entrance, or using the neighborhood cul-de-sac. Traffic either goes right or left out of the circle.
Children should use the sidewalk of Walkers’ Circle to walk to the hill. No children should be seen leaving the car from the driver’s side of the car. All children exiting the car should leave from the passenger side of the car.
Cars only use the right side of the Walkers’ Circle.
No cars should use the left lane of Walkers’ Circle to park or drop-off children. This lane will be open so that cars can safely pull into the left side for left turn exiting purposes.

Do not park in the neighborhood cul-de-sac. There are already signs posted and we need to adhere to these posted signs out of respect for our neighbors.
Cars only use the right side of the Walkers’ Circle.
No cars should use the left lane of Walkers’ Circle to pick children up. This lane will be open so that cars can safely pull into the left side for left turn exiting purposes.
No parking on Brookhill Drive that runs parallel to Walkers’ Circle (the grassy part of the Walkers’ Circle). This will allow cars turning both left and right to have a clear view of oncoming traffic. Cars that park next to grass area closest to the Walkers’ Circle create a blindspot. Therefore, moving forward we would like to reduce this risk and make this a No Parking Zone.
As you use Walkers Circle, it is important to be mindful of keeping the flow going. Drive forward as cars exit. With the left lane open for traffic, then cars should be able to navigate safely and easily out of the Circle. No student will be allowed to enter or cross the circle to get in a vehicle if the vehicle is parked in the left lane.
It is important that cars do not park at the entrance of the hill on Brookhill. This is critical to keeping flow into the circle moving. If a car cannot get into the Circle because another car has chose to park, then the whole flow of the Circle is stopped or slowed down. With the changes we should anticipate that there might be a longer line up Brookhill to get into the Walkers Circle. As kids are picked up in the Circle, then cars will be able to enter from Brookhill to also pick up.

Birthday Celebrations and Invitations
Birthdays
Each child at Rose Glen is a gift and their birthday is very special day! This year each classroom teacher will ensure that birthdays are acknowledged and each child knows that their birthday is important and is a celebration. At this time we are moving away from the practice of students bringing in birthday treats to the classroom. This will ensure that all children within the classroom are able to participate in the celebration and it also aligns with our district wellness guidelines and procedures. If you have any questions, then please contact the office.Birthday Invitations
We strongly encourage families to use the online school directory (MySchoolAnywhere) to obtain information necessary to send invitations to families for student birthday parties. Invitations will not be distributed at school unless there is an invitation for the whole class. Again, the preference is for families to utilize MySchoolAnywhere to connect with other families in regards to birthday party information. Therefore, please remember to sign-up for this PTO sponsored resource to ensure that you are able to connect with other families and other families are able to connect with you!
