A Note From Our Principal
Hello GVPLA Families,
Fall has arrived. Somehow we have already been in school for six weeks! Along with the cooler temperatures comes some days off for scholars. Please note that we have several days off of school coming up this month.
We have begun practicing our different safety drills (fire and lockdown) and students are doing a great job! Please be sure to talk with your child about what they learned to do in these emergency situations. Staff are preparing students in developmentally appropriate ways about the meaning and importance of these drills.
Home and school communication is very important, please connect your child's teacher should you have any questions or concerns. Likewise, teachers will be contacting you directly if they have any concerns about progress.
Growth mindset is the belief that intelligence can be developed. Students who possess a growth mindset focus on improvement instead of worrying about how smart they are. They work hard to learn more and achieve success. At GVPLA, we believe and support a growth mindset approach and encourage students to work hard, persevere when things get tough and that this will help them reach their goals and ultimately improve. At home you may hear your child talking about growth mindset and you can support this idea through encouraging your child to work hard and persist when there are challenges. Students who adopt a growth mindset are enthusiastic and see challenges as opportunities for growth rather than barriers.
We truly appreciate your ongoing support and believe that by working together we can create the best possible environment that allows students to achieve success.
As always, please contact the school with any questions or concerns.
