Saint John The Beloved Academy
Sixth Grade Assignments
Notes From Mr. O'Neill to Parents
As we find ourselves in unique times this spring, please feel free to email any of the Sixth Grade teachers with any questions or concerns you may have about your children. I encourage all of us to use this time to focus on becoming becoming more organized, prayerful, and contemplative. I suggest doing things like setting a reasonable schedule for the students as they work at home with study, quiet, and free time all outlined; organize a family game or movie night to stay connected with each other; and go on nature walks to observe and be a part of the beautiful spring season around that has not slowed down at all. Thank you.

Science, Mr. Lamirande
The second week the students will need to go out each weeknight and observe the moon. They will need to print out the attached PDF labeled “Moon_Phases” and fill out the time they observed the moon, what the weather was like (clear/cloudy etc) and then draw the moon as it appears in the sky. Make sure they are filling out the information for the right day, and please have them sign their name at the top of the sheet. Please scan or photograph their work by Monday the 30th .
Technology, Mr. Lamirande
Spend 20 minutes practicing their typing with Ratatype. They may break up
the time typing over the course of a few days. Lessons 8-15 are due at the end of the year.
Art, Mr. Lamirande
Students should complete the following project:
The first week design an illustration for the story of Jason and the Golden Fleece. Their
first step is to choose two powerful events or moments from the story. Next, they will draw a
rough draft of each of the two events they chose.
Please take a picture or scan their two drafts and email the image by Friday the 20th.
The second week, finish the design of the illustration they started last week.
The students will choose which of the two drafts they liked better, and redraw a final version of
that draft on a blank sheet of printer paper. They will then color in the final drawing with any
materials they want, crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc.
Please take a picture or scan their work and email the image to me by Friday the 27th.
