Learning Commons News

"Paws for Books Book Fair" - Spring Scholastic Book Fair



Our spring Scholastic Book Fair will be in the Learning Commons from April 9th to April 13th (the week after Spring Break). Stop by the Learning Commons from 7:35 to 4:00to shop for some great books of all ages or shop our online fair at http://www.scholastic.com/bf/meadowglenmiddleschool1 from April 4-17th. Because our theme is pets, we will have a donations drive to help a local shelter and rehabilitation center. Here is what students can bring to the Learning Commons to help our furry friends in need:


  • 30 gallon trash bags
  • tall kitchen trash bags
  • unopened canned dog and cat food (any brand)
  • unopened dry dog and cat food (any brand)
  • new cat or dog toys
  • dog collars of any size
  • AAA and AA batteries
  • newspapers
  • plastic grocery bags
  • bleach
  • postage stamps
  • Dawn dish washing doap
  • dishwasher detergent
  • liquid laundry detergent
  • antibacterial soap
  • facial tissues (lotion free)
  • paper towels
  • mops
  • towels, sheets, blankets
  • new feather dusters
  • scrub brushes
  • 75W reptile heat bulbs
  • 100W Night Heat bulbs
  • 48: UVB fluorescent bulbs

House Happenings

The 8th-grade social studies classes worked their way through puzzles with historical clues about the economic boom of the 1920s and bust of the 1930s as they attempted to “breakout”. They also created artifacts in a museum type setting that represented various units regarding South Carolina's economy over time.
