Panther Pause
20 years of Pride at Colleyville Heritage High School
3.31.17
Panthers,
We have been able to demonstrate our PRIDE this week through our state assessments, the EOC exams. I am truly proud of our students and staff as they have conducted the smoothest round of testing I have ever been a part of. I think this is a true testament of what great people we have here at CHHS. Now we just await the fantastic results from our students' efforts later this semester. Last Friday evening was a whirlwind of events for me: watching the playoff soccer game, coming back to CHHS to catch the end of the baseball and softball games, and then finally closing the night by attending the One Act Play Bi-District Awards Ceremony. It was so great to see all of the hard work of our students pay off in many, great ways. While a couple of the competitions did not go our way, it was great to see the character and sportsmanship displayed by all of our students. I look forward to the other demonstrations of PRIDE throughout the rest of the semester. Have a great weekend and GO PANTHERS!

Student Voice
I enjoy many things about Colleyville Heritage, but if I were to pick 2 it would be the teachers and the theater program.
The teachers at Colleyville Heritage are so caring and supportive. Their lectures are entertaining and at the end they make sure the students understand what is going on. Before moving on, they ask if anyone has questions, and it's not embarrassing to raise your hand and ask a question.
I also enjoy the theater program. I am only in Theater I at the moment, but am aspiring to continue on with theater and am looking forward to it. The class itself is really unique; each unit we have makes us perfect a new skill in a fun way. Also, Mrs. Devino is super sweet and funny, and the students are welcoming.

If you’d like to nominate an outstanding volunteer, teacher, staff member or community member, please fill out this Google form which you can also access on the CHHS PTSA website.

Mentors Needed!
We would like to build a bank of professionals that we may use to match students to mentors. The list will not be made public and will be managed by a teacher. If you would be willing to mentor a student, please complete this form. Mentor opportunities and time commitments are varied. Please note that all mentors will be required to complete the district background check required of all volunteers. If you have any questions, please contact Kelli Mann. We appreciate your time and support!
MARCH VOLUNTEER HOURS
It's time to submit the number of adult volunteer hours you volunteered in MARCH for any CHHS organization. PTSA collects the number of volunteer hours, so that GCISD can use them for applying for grants and other uses. This is only parent hours, not students. ACCEPTED Wall
Exciting New Endeavor! CHHS PTSA is collaborating with CHHS AVID to create a space on our campus that will showcase the accomplishments of our CHHS seniors and where they have been accepted to college. It will be called an ACCEPTED Wall. The purpose of the ACCEPTED Wall is to highlight exceptional college campuses all over the United States and beyond, and to start a conversation about how and why to choose a school of higher learning.
Here is how students and parents can help:
1. We would like pennants from colleges that you visit. While you are on a tour, pick up a pennant to donate. They can be dropped at the CHHS office beginning Tuesday, January 17th .
2. When you receive acceptance confirmation and decide on a college, scan your letter and send it Dawn Treese at dawn@treese.org. These will be framed and hung on the ACCEPTED Wall.
Questions? Contact Dawn Treese at dawn@treese.org

The students notice and they appreciate the effort and the presence of Grateful Dads. Greeters are needed for Friday of each week from 8:00 am to 8:40 am in three locations on campus. Please visit this Signup Genius link for details and to sign up for the Greeter Program. For more information, contact Bryan Holland, Grateful Dads Chair at 817-875-5215 or bholland071@icloud.com.
