High Expectations: Every Scholar, Every Day
A Word from Principal Haynes
Greetings Parents,
We are pushing forward, working hard to get our scholars ready for our upcoming testing season. We have 39 school days until our 4th and 5th grade scholars take the FSA Writing Assessment. For this test, our scholars have to read and respond in writing to what they have read, writing either an opinion or informative essay.I CANNOT stress enough the IMPORTANCE of this assessment to help our scholars with their overall ELA scores. Please talk to and encourage your 4th or 5th grader as we work to prepare them for this test.
That is also the same amount of time before our 3rd grade scholars take the FSA ELA Assessment. This assessment is by far THE most important assessment for elementary school. If you have a third grader, please talk to the teacher about what you can do over the next few months to help your scholar be READY for this assessment. Remember, 3rd grade is mandatory retention if scholars do not meet with success on this FSA or any of the other few alternatives. Our Extended Learning Opportunity Saturday Camp is another way we are targeting scholars to help them achieve success.
This week our students begin a "mock" FSA test called the Cadre 7 Common Interim Assessment. This is for students in grades 3-5 and the purpose is to help us know what we need to focus on to teach over the next weeks in preparation for the FSA. There are NO score reports to send home with the students. The information is mainly used to help guide teachers in planning their classroom instruction. We need our students to take this test seriously and be COMMITTED! Thank you in advance for your support!!
Let's make this another great week of High Expectations--Every Scholar--Every Day!!!
Wishing you an AMAZING and BLESSED week!!
