Woodbury Weekly Update for Families
December 18, 2023
Welcome to our weekly update! We are thrilled to keep you informed about the happenings at our school, celebrations & achievements and upcoming events, ensuring you're an active part of your students educational journey. In each update, you'll find highlights of the past week and a preview of what's to come, fostering a strong sense of community and collaboration between the school and our cherished families. Most weeks will be brief, but at times there is important information or updates that help support us in your involvement in our little school. Thank you for taking the time to read it!
A Peek at Our Week
This will be our last weekly update as we head into break. We have been enjoying a wonderful and festive season together! Our winter family fun night was SNOW much fun and we truly enjoyed having so many families here. We are appreciative of the the help we received from so many volunteers. It was a great evening. 2nd grade had great weather for their field trip to Hoover. We have kept all of our festive lights up in order to deck the halls and it really has brought a bright and cheery goal for all. We are seeing our students grow leaps and bound and look forward to continuing the year after the break. We hope you find joy and happiness in your time together with your children, family and loved ones.
Dress up days continue and wrap up next week! We will wrap up the week with our holiday parties on Thursday and an early dismissal time of 1:10 p.m.
Thank you to all who supported the Woodbury PPA Holiday Shop!

Holiday Sing Along
On December 20th, Woodbury students will board district buses and take a short drive to Haskin Elementary School for our annual in-house singalong. Mr. Anderson and Mr. Aska have worked hard to prepare an entertaining singalong for our students. We are excited to use Haskin's updated stage area for the students to experience. Mrs. Kern has great memories of many of her elementary school programs on that same stage many moons ago! Although the singalong is not open to parents'/guardians' attendance, there will be a concert in the spring at Sandwich High School that all are welcome to attend!
Woodbury Way Recognition: Josie and Tessa spent the day helping in Kindergarten! Future teachers perhaps?
Franklin Mall THANK YOU!
We are overcome with gratitude with the number of donations we received! Our little school collected 1,161 items!
Woodbury students represented us well at last week's board meeting to lead the Pledge of Allegiance!
Update from the Nurse
Dental Reminder
Completed Dental Exam forms are required for current Kindergarten and second grade students by May 15th. If you are unable to obtain the required dental exam, please complete the Dental Exam Waiver.
Healthy Sleep for the HOLIDAYZZZZ
Make the most of the season by staying well-rested with these science-based sleep tips:
Kids 12 and under need at least 9 hours of sleep each night.
Try to keep a consistent sleep schedule by having your family go to bed and get up at the same times every day, even on holiday breaks or when learning remotely.
Avoid caffeine and avoid large meals right before bed.
If you want to nap over the holiday break, aim for a 20-minute nap, which experts say is the best time length to wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go.
We sleep better when the room is between 60 and 67 degrees Fahrenheit (65-70 degrees for babies and toddlers).
Make sure to stay active over the holidays, as physical activity during the day can facilitate better sleep at night.
Turn all screens off at least an hour before bedtime.
