The Arc of Wichita County Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to including individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their communities. We offer the following services: Licensed Child Care, Self-Advocacy, Employment Services, Social Programs, Summer Camps for Children and Adults, and The HERO House Day Habilitation Program.

Programs
Summer Camps
Camp Noah: Every summer, The Arc of Wichita County has a unique opportunity to serve the under served in our community by hosting a summer day camp for children (ages 3-21) with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Camp Noah caters to children with higher level of assistance required, need for structure, limited mobility and need for assistance in the restroom. Activities include shallow backyard water play, arts & crafts, games, story time, and special guests!story time and special guests!
Camp Tejas: Camp Tejas is a summer day camp for children (ages 10-21) with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It is designed for children with lower level of assistance required, ability to follow directions, and are independent in toileting needs. Activities include daily swimming in camp pool, arts & crafts, games, and special guests!
Camp Harmony: Camp Harmony operates three weeks each May for individuals in our community with intellectual and developmental disabilities ages 22 and older (post high school graduation.) For many of the participants, Camp Harmony is what they look forward to each summer.
The HERO House Day Hab
The HERO House Day Habilitation Services: The HERO House was designed to offer individuals 18 and over a day habilitation program where they can serve others, learn valuable life skills, and socialize with their friends. The HERO House is open Monday - Friday 8 am - 2 pm. Members that attend The Hero House participate in activities such as volunteering in the community, shopping, cooking, gymnastics, and much much more. Child Care
The Arc Child Care Program: The Arc Childcare program is the only childcare program in the area that is exclusively designed for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are licensed through the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Our childcare program serves school age children 3 -21. We are open after school, school breaks and summer break. People First Self-Advocates
People First Self Advocates: People First is comprised of a group of individuals age 18 and over who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. They hold meetings once a month and have activities that teach self advocacy and socialization. People First participates in several community events including traveling to Austin, Texas to make their voices heard at the state capitol about legislative issues that are important to them. Each summer they attend a state conference with self advocates from all over the state of Texas.
Community Connections
Community Connections: The goal of this program is to connect individuals with disabilities and their families with assistance and services to help make their lives easier. The first Wednesday of each month we have a different speaker that will highlight services and programs in the area that might be beneficial to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Community Connections meets at The Arc from 12 pm to 1 pm and lunch is served.
Employment Services
Social Activities
Social Programs: The Arc offers social programs to teens and adults. Participants get to enjoy fun social events with their peers. This group participates in activities such as going to movies, attending major league sporting events, concerts, eating out, game night, and bowling just to name a few. The cost for these activities varies depending on the event.
Employee of the Month
Meet Mo!
Mo has been working at The Arc of Wichita County at our Day Hab program for nearly 8 months! She has a positive and kind spirit. She always has a great attitude and is very willing to do whatever is asked of her. You can find her helping our members with tasks around the Hero House like cooking and laundry. All of the members adore her and she loves each member so well. We are very pleased to award her the employee of the month!
The Arc of Wichita County is dedicated to serving our community, but we wouldn't be successful without incredible employees like Mo.

Friends Club (Ages 15 and older)
The Arc provides a fun night scheduled on the second Friday of each month so that parents and caregivers can have a night out. During the evening participants have dinner, make arts and crafts, play games, watch movies and socialize with their friends. The time is
6 pm - 10 pm and the cost is $15.00 per participant. This program is for ages 15 and older.
