How Will 100% Virtual Learners Be Organized?
Virtual learners will continue to attend their current advisory and continue to follow their schedule they have been following. They will log in virtually as they have been doing.
Early Release Wednesdays & WALT Options
Each Wednesday, students will have an early release. Students will leave at 1:10 pm.
WALT: Washington Afternoon Learning Time
Students attending WALT will stay in the building until 3:00 pm. There are two ways in which students would attend WALT:
- Families sign their child(ren) up for WALT on Wednesdays. If you would like your child to attend WALT each week, please call our office to sign your child up for WALT with a start date of Mar. 8th. Office # 920-663-9570
- Students are required to attend WALT due to missing assignments/assessments. When students are missing assignments, teachers will assign them to attend a MANDATORY WALT session. Teachers will contact families and caregivers if a required WALT time is needed.
Will Students Be Using Lockers?
Students will only use their lockers at the beginning of the day and at the end of the day. As students arrive, they will put their coats, hats, gloves, cell phones, etc. into their lockers. Then they will proceed to their advisory classroom with their backpacks/needed school supplies. Students will carry their backpacks and Chromebooks with them from class to class during the school day.
Lunch
Lunch will remain FREE for all students through the remainder of the school year, and students will have three lunch options each day. To maintain adequate social distancing while masks are off and students are eating, we will be having some students eat in the cafeteria and some students eat in the multi purpose room. These two places provide more space for students to spread out and socially distance.
Elective Update
6th Grade Elective Update
Starting March 8th, sixth grade students will have some changes to their elective schedule. During one of their elective periods, students will follow a Blue/Gold rotational schedule. During the Blue/Gold rotational schedule, students will participate in art and music. Students who are currently taking band or orchestra will continue to receive that class as a music class selection. All other sixth grade students will participate in general music.
7th & 8th Grade Elective Update
4th Quarter will bring new electives for some of our students. We will be mailing a letter and updated schedule home to all students to show these changes.

SWIRL- A School Goal
The Washington Middle School goal is to improve our students' literacy skills by creating an opportunity for every student, every day, in every class to practice the skills of Speaking, Writing, Interacting, Reading and Listening- SWIRL.
We are excited to continue to share SWIRL in every advisory classroom, every Thursday. We are all watching a video of a community member talking to our students about how they use the skills of SWIRL in their careers. Our goal is for students to see SWIRL in many sorts of jobs- letting them know that SWIRL is a part of their future.
Thank you to Jesus Cervantes-WMS Interpreter SWIRL video for sharing his story about SWIRL with our students.
