The Garfield Re-2 School District is pleased to announce that Michael Rynkiewicz is the new Director of Finance. Mr. Rynkiewicz was approved by the Garfield Re-2 School Board at the August 28, 2018 school board meeting.

Garfield Re-2 receives funding for additional pre-school and kindergarten slots
The kindergarten and preschool classrooms in Garfield Re-2 will be bigger than ever this fall thanks in large part to a $420,340 competitive Colorado Department of Education appropriation.
As part of the 2018 Colorado Legislative session, the State expanded the funding for the Colorado Preschool Program and Early Childhood At Risk Enhancement programs by 1,000 slots. School districts were encouraged to apply for the additional slots made available. Garfield Re-2 Director of Curriculum and Assessment Julie Knowles explained that with the support of the Superintendent, Asst. Superintendent and elementary principals, the application that she submitted on behalf of the district was approved adding 25 preschool spaces and 82 ECARE (Early Childhood At Risk Enhancement) spaces. The ECARE spaces will be used to assist families with full-day kindergarten tuition.

and secretaries attended from all three districts. It was a great turn out!
The GT Design team held it's first meeting and learned about the design process. We also visualized a day in the life of a GT student in order to get a sense of what some highs and lows might be for our students. Our next meeting is in early October.
