Why this cause is important

Hunger in the United States matters because not everyone is fully conscious or aware of it. America is a first-world country therefore we have this idea that we are above simple problems in everyday life.

"How was it possible that men, women, and children were being burned
and that the world kept silent?" pg32 As stated before, poverty and hunger isn't what usually comes to mind when we think of the country we live in. But 1 in 6 Americans face hunger.

The District of Columbia (30.7%) and Oregon (29.0%) had the highest rates of children in households without consistent access to food.
Feeding America provides food to 37 million Americans, including 14 million children annually.
