Mrs. Donovan's Action Poem

During Cornucopia yesterday, I saw Mrs. Donovan teaching the students about how flowers grow through a lovely poem with actions. I couldn't resist taking their picture!

Children & the Arts

Children and the Arts is next Saturday, May 21st from 9am to 3pm! This is a wonderful day full of free arts events for the family in downtown Peterborough. Concerts, dancing, arts and crafts and a giant puppet parade at noon. Every AES student has made a puppet to carry in the parade! The theme is “Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!” These will be sent home on May 20th with information about where to meet. All student parade walkers must be accompanied by an adult. We also have two giant puppets that we are looking for volunteers to carry for us to show our school spirit in the arts! Contact Carole Storro ( with any questions or interest. I know it is a busy time of year but hopefully you can join us for part of the day, especially the parade. We will also host a djembe drum circle in Depot Square in the morning. It is sure to be a wonderful day (rain or shine)!

A Thank You from Mrs. Moore

The 3rd and 4th graders have been hard at work this week on the NHSAS test. We are very proud of their effort. Thank you to the younger students for their support, kind words, and treats; it has made testing a little more pleasant.

Summer Learning - Time to Sign Up

It is time to sign up for the Elementary Summer Learning Program. Below is a description of the two options for your child.

Explore and Expand Summer Learning Program is for rising 1st through 4th graders! This four-week long program is designed to support student learning by bolstering school-year skills and helping to fight summer learning loss. Students will receive 1-1.5 hours of academic support from ConVal Certified Teachers and Tutors. An additional hour of the program is reserved for enrichment exploration, including drumming and cartooning.

The Title 1 Program is for rising 1st through 5th graders! This four-week long program is designed to support student learning in reading. Students will receive up to 3 hours of academic support daily from ConVal Certified Teachers. Time for snacks and breaks will be included in the 3 hours. A portion of the program will be dedicated to partnering with our local community to promote student learning. Francestown families note that Title 1 Programming is only available for students who have received Title 1 services during the school year.

Both programs are free of charge, and registration is open to all. As we anticipate great demand, enrollment will be prioritized based on need, working in partnership with schools to ensure that we offer summer learning opportunities for as many students as possible. Please click on the link at the beginning of this post to sign up today.
