A Message from Mr. Long


All students in all classes will have a final exam. Final exams will be December 17th and 18th. Both of the days are half-days of school for the high school students. We will dismiss car riders and drivers at 11:20 AM. We will then dismiss bus riders at 11:45 AM. We will serve breakfast and lunch on these days for those students who want to eat.

December 17th will be exams for periods 1 and 2.

December 18th will be exams for periods 3 and 5.

It has been a great semester! Thanks for everyone's support that makes our school the best! I hope everyone has a great Christmas holiday season!

Monday Night Bastkeball

The Trojans will take on the Generals at Lee High School tonight! Varsity Boys will tip-off at 7:30 PM, Varsity Girls and Freshman Boys at 5:30 PM, and Junior Varsity Teams at 4:30 PM. I hope to see everyone there!

Bowling Match: HG vs Sparkman

The Trojans will face off today against Sparkmen at our home alley in Pin Palace, December 14th at 4:00 PM. Look forward to seeing everyone there!

FCCLA Annual Christmas Party

The annual FFCLA Christmas Party is Tuesday, December 15th, after school, in Ms. Mims' room. See Mrs. Bowling or Ms. Mims for details.

HG Christmas Ornament & Key Chain

The Engineering Academy is using its 3D printing capabilities to raise money for additional 3D printing equipment. They have designed a variety of key chains for your choosing: Sport, Academic, and Action-Adventure. They have also designed Christmas ornaments from the logos located around the school. Individual items cost $5.00 or you can pick five for $20.00. Please see Mr. Sims for purchases.

HGHS Track Team Toy Drive

The Hazel Green Track and Field Team will be conducting a Toy Drive for children in the Hazel Green Community. Please bring new unwrapped toys to Coach Morrow's room N210 no later than December 18th. Please help brighten someone's Christmas. The Track and Field team will host a pancake breakfast on December 19th from 7:30 -9:30 AM. Tickets are $5.00. Please see a member of the track team for tickets. All outdoor team members will need to see Coach Morrow for tickets.

We will dismiss from school for Christmas Break on December 21st and will return January 6, 2016. Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday, and have a happy New Year!

Revision to Pre-Approved Absence Policy- Students requesting pre-approved, excused absences will need to turn the form in to Mrs. Sharp at least 20 days before the planned absence. Forms can be found on the school website.

Procedure for Riding the Bus with a Friend
- Any student who plans to ride home on a bus with a friend or to another address should follow the procedures below. No student will be allowed to ride to a different address without verification of parent/guardian approval by a school official.

1. A parent/guardian note should be turned in before first block to the receptionist desk at the back of school. The note should contain the address and information for the bus driver and should include the date and a correct phone number for verification purposes.

2. Pick up the verified note from the receptionist during lunch.

3. Give the note to the bus driver when entering the bus at the end of the school day.

Juniors Have Free Access to ACT Online Prep - All juniors will receive a personal user name and password to the ACT Online Prep website. This is a great resource to be used in preparing for the ACT Plus Writing assessment which will be given to all of our juniors during school. All students are strongly encouraged to utilize this service provided to us. For more information, visit

First Priority/FCS
meets every Tuesday morning at 8:00 in the Black Box Theatre. All students are welcome to attend.

Parenting Assistance Line:
PAL is a service where anyone can call a toll free number 1-866-962-3030 and receive useful, practical information and assistance with developmental and parenting questions and concerns. Available 8:00am – 8:00pm (central time) Monday – Friday.

Going green at “the Green”. The Hazel Green High School Special Education Department needs your old cell phones and ink cartridges. Items to be recycled can be given to a Special Education teacher or left for collection at the office. Your support of our recycling fundraiser is greatly appreciated.

Reward Cards:
Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your reward cards when you visit Publix and Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you have them swipe your card, HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a reward card, just stop by the main office to pick one up.

Driver’s permit:
Students /Parents, remember to pick up the Student Enrollment Form before you go to get your permit. The driver’s license department will not allow you to take the test unless you have this form and it cannot be faxed after you get there. These forms are good for 10 days only.

Loyalty Reward Tags:
(Hazel Green Pharmacy Loyalty Key Tag Program) Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your loyalty key tag when you visit Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you purchase a Prescription/Gift/OTC have them swipe your tag. HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a loyalty key tag, just stop by the main office to pick one up.
