Wilder Elementary School
Parent Newsletter - December 2019
Greetings Wilder Families!
Happy December! The first trimester of the school year is behind us. Report Cards will be sent home through email on December 9. Let us know if you do not receive your child's report card. Please be in touch with your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
Thanks for your support of and attendance at Turkey Bingo. We appreciated the space at Central to gather, visit, eat, and play bingo! PTO did a wonderful job organizing the event again this year. Much appreciation for all the Wilder Staff who helped out as well!
We have appreciated the attendance by parents and grandparents at our monthly Red Events! We won’t have one in December, but mark your calendars for Monday, January 13 at 2:30. We hope you can make it!
Wishing all our families a wonderful holiday season from all of us at Wilder!

Dog Therapy at Wilder
The district has recently approved Dog Therapy Teams to make visits to our schools. Certified dogs and their handlers have gone through necessary training to qualify to be therapy teams. We are just beginning this experience and look for it to grow as we know dogs make connections in special ways with our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please call Mrs. Wiegandt.

Information from Wilder's Social Worker
With cooler temperatures ahead, we have seen an increased need for winter weather gear for some of our students. Thanks to our social workers, these needs will be sent via text, posted on the Purposity website, and our community members will be able to assist with the few clicks of a button.
If you want to lend a hand to these students, visit https://www.purposity.com/users/sign_up and sign up for a Purposity account today. You will receive a text message once a week with a need for one of our students/their families. Once an item is purchased, it is sent directly to a school social worker, who distributes the item to the student/their family. It's just that easy.
Information from Wilder's Counselor
Jenny will be at Wilder on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She will be available for student support and will continue social/emotional lessons within the classroom. For counseling services, Jenny Maguire, our social worker Sara Munson, and principal Leslie Wiegandt are available to help provide additional information on counseling resources and services within the community.
