March 17, 2014

Greetings from Room 115!

Announcements:

**Field Trip information was sent via email this past week. Due to budget cuts, we are asking that parents print out the permission slip for their child. If this is an issue please let me know and I will print a permission slip for you. Permission slips and money are due on Tuesday, March 25!

**On Thursday, March 27 we invite you to visit our room between 11:15 and 12:15 to view our tourism group projects! The students have worked hard with their groups and we would love for parents, grandparents, and others to walk through our room and let us share what we've learned with you.

**Friday Spirit Day: $1 Hat Day to support CRES scholarships

Spring Carnival Basket

Our theme this year is a great one: DOG LOVERS! The items that could be included in this basket are endless! Dog treats, sassy collars for the dog, dog clothes (heehee), t-shirts, hats (more for the owners than the dogs), etc!

Michelle Ayres will provide the basket but we need your help in filling it! Please do not feel obligated to help, we only what you to give if you are able. Donating is optional as always.

Smart Building Blocks For Taking Tests

What are we up to in room 115?

Math:

We will be continuing our work with fractions this week. If your child has any favorite recipes they can bring a copy of them in and we will be using them in our fraction work. Take a look below to see some of the great problem solving that was happening in our classroom today!

Reading:

This week we will continue adventure book clubs. The students are required to bring their completed thinking about the book to each of their book club meetings. They will finish their book clubs before spring break begins.

Writing

We will continue our work with the Indiana project this week. Students will be completing their final presentations within the next 2 weeks, as well as writing about the attraction that they have included in their group project. As stated above, we welcome you to come on Thursday, March 27 to see all the work they have been doing!

Today we said goodbye to Twinkie and Cuddles but we know they will love their new homes with Evan and Josh!
