BISD Health and Safety:
Hey Bulldog Land! Did you know that Bandera ISD has Automated External Defibrillators (AED) located at various sites throughout the district. You will find our AEDs located in/around the main campus offices/foyers, in our gymnasiums/training areas, and our most recent location… in the Bulldog Stadium Press Box. In addition, District Athletic Trainers and their student staff have portable AEDs that travel wherever our athletes go.
So… now that you know where they are located, the big question is… do you know how to use them in? No worries… because our AEDs talk to you! The model of AED that BISD has chosen, walks the user through each step, and has visual picture directions posted clearly on the AED itself. In the event the AED is utilized for a cardiac arrest, the user, and the patient are clearly covered. In fact, the AED that we use has the exact same connections that Bandera County EMS uses. So once EMS is on site, they can quickly move the monitor connections to their equipment, and transport the patient.
As we work to increase safety and security in BISD, we encourage you to join us next week for another Bulldog Safety Sense!

Friday Night Lights by Coach Bagby
The Bandera Bulldogs were finally back at home Friday night to take on the Llano Yellowjackets. The weather was much cooler than it has been...it felt like playoff weather, and this game would punch that ticket for the Bulldogs as they came from behind to beat Llano 28-21.
The Bulldog defense had 5 sacks and 4 big pass deflections to hold the Jackets to 218 total yards of offense. The Defensive Players of the Week were Gage Brown and Trace Decker. The outside linebackers (Brian Burns, Will Paul and Brock Johnson) did a great job of taking away the Llano screen game.
Llano would strike first with a big pass play to go up 7-0 with 9:26 left in the 1st quarter. The Bulldogs answered in less than 2 minutes. Tommy Cardenas shifted to QB, kept a power read and raced down the right sideline for a 45 yard TD. It was very well blocked by the entire offensive line (with a pancake block by TE Mason Phair). Llano got on the board first in the 2nd quarter...with 9:24 left in the half it was 14-7 Llano. After a big pass play from QB Gunnar Brown to Tommy Cardenas, Tommy pounded it in from the 1 yard line. He kept it around the right side with great blocks from Liam Demarchi and Logan Williams. The score was now 14-14 with 5:49 left in the half. Llano attempted a 30 yard FG, but Tommy Cardenas brought the FAST pressure off the left side and laid out like superman to make the kicker short leg it and miss the attempt wide left! Two plays later Bandera turned the ball over and Llano hit a quick 25 yard TD pass to go up 21-14 with :22 seconds left in the half. On the ensuing kickoff, Tommy Cardenas raced down the right sideline shifting into turbo and taking it 80 yards for a TD...after the celebration we spotted a late flag and the points were taken off the board for a holding penalty. The Bulldogs went in to regroup down 21-14.
In the 3rd quarter, on a 4th and 13 on the 41 yard line, Bandera went for it and converted on a sprint out pass from Gunnar Brown to Tyler Moore. Tyler caught the ball at 6 yards and ran tough for another 11 yards and a HUGE 1st down to keep the drive alive! Bandera drove down to the 3 yard line and on 4th down Blaise Salazar kicked a FG to make the score 21-20. The Jackets brought pressure to block the kick...instead they roughed the kicker...so the Bulldogs accepted the penalty and took the points off the board. Two plays later Brock Johnson would take a jet sweep into the end zone to tie it up 21-21 with :58 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. Ladies and gentlemen...we have another nail biter! Llano immediately tried to go deep on a fade route and Gage Brown made a great defensive play slapping the ball away! In the 4th quarter, the Bulldogs drove down and QB Gunnar Brown punched it in on a keeper around the left side for the go ahead score and the “nail in the coffin”...LET’S GO!!!! Blaise Salazar stayed a perfect 4 for 4 on extra points. The rest of the 4th quarter was a slug fest with the Bulldogs showing toughness, poise and GRIT to hang on to the win and punch their ticket to the playoffs!!!!
Gunnar Brown had 154 total yards and a TD. Tommy Cardenas had 212 total yards and 2 TDs. Tommy was also the Special Teams Player of the Week. The Offensive Linemen of the Week was Zak Widenor who was solid in the middle vs. a tough nose guard.
Your Bandera Bulldogs are 7-1. We travel to Austin on Thursday night to play Eastside. Come out and support this TEAM as we look for win #8...on Halloween!!!
