The Freedom Phenom
October 2022
GREETINGS PARENTS,
I am happy to report that we have completed the process for our STEM Certification! Thank you to those of you who contributed in various ways throughout the experience. Although we have not yet received the final results, our team is excited share a portion of our accreditation experience with you! Follow the link below to join us in our journey through the Solar SySTEM!
It's hard to believe that we have only 6 more Mondays in the school year. Let's finish strong!
Proudly serving ONE Freedom!

MILESTONES
Below you will find the schedule for this year’s Milestones. We will kick testing off with our 6th grade on Tuesday, April 25. Please remember to have your child to school on time. When your child’s grade level is testing, we will begin promptly at 9:10. Students who are tardy will not be allowed to enter the testing session and will be completing make-ups on a different day. As a reminder, no electronic devices (cell phones, smart watches, etc.) are allowed in the testing environment. Any questions about milestones please contact our testing coordinator, Lindsay Loden lindsay.loden@cherokeek12.net
COUNSELOR'S CORNER
With the GA Milestones coming up, we thought we’d share a few articles for parents related to test anxiety and how to cope with it. Please remind your students that while we want them to do their best on the Milestones, we know that they are so much more than a test they take on any given day. Each of your students has unique strengths and abilities that we have enjoyed witnessing all year.

- Friday 4/28/23: Last day for checkout. NO EXCEPTIONS!! I will renew overdue books so a student can have it for testing but no new checkouts.
- Wednesday 5/3/23: 6th grade library books are due
- Friday 5/5/23: 7th grade library books are due
- Friday 5/12/23: 8th graders may have ONE library book through testing to be turned in after the SS test is complete on Friday.
Late/Lost books need to be returned as soon as possible to avoid any replacement fees.
**There have been a few internet and Destiny issues where books have been returned and reshelved, but the system didn't check-in the book. If you suspect that is an issue because you have gotten late or lost book notices, please have your student come to the library to confirm it has been turned in.
