Never Give In!
In the beginning Rudy wanted to play football at Notre Dame but he was to small. He played football at Joliet Catholic Academy but did not have the grades to get into Notre Dame. Four years later Rudy has gotten a try at a school near Notre Dame. It had taken him almost a year until he had the grades too get in. A little later he tried out for the football team and he made it. He waited every game to play until the last game. He was dressed and on the sideline. It was 36 seconds left until he finally got to go into the game. He made the final tackle of the game and was carried of the field.
Try harder!
Rudy wanted to play football at Notre Dame but he did not have the grades. So when kids went on a bus to go to Notre Dame for a tour he didn't get to go because he did not have the grades. So he worked at a mill with his parents and brothers. But four years later he got enough money to go to a school near Notre Dame. he worked harder than he has ever worked and he finally got in and played a little of one game on the football team. Since he worked so harder he got to follow his dream.
You can be the same!
Some kids have good grades Rudy did not. Those kids that had good grades had a better chance to get into Notre Dame. So Rudy had to wait a couple years to get into a school near Notre Dame. He had almost taken him a whole year to get in. Also some of the kids that played on the football team were big but Rudy was really small compared to some kids on the football team. So since he was small he barely got to play and the bigger kids got to play a lot. Everyone wanted him to play at least one play and he did and he got carried off the field.
Rudy & Notre Dame
Rudy was a senior in high school and he wanted to play football at Notre Dame. He had to work at a mill with his father and brothers. But none of his family had gone to college and he wanted to be the first. He worked really hard for almost a year to get into Notre Dame. He had finally gotten the grades to get to go to Notre Dame for a whole year. It was in the year of 1974-1975. Rudy was only 5'6 and 185 pounds compared to some kids that were 300 pounds and 6'6. It was difficult for Rudy ti play because of how small Rudy was, and he had such a big heart that he finally got to play 36 seconds of the last game against Georgia Tech. He had gotten the final tackle and got carried of the field and is the last to be carried of the field.
