Welcome Back to School!

Wednesday, Aug. 14 marks the first day of school for our students in grades 1-8! Our preschool and kindergarten students return to class on Thursday, Aug. 15. We have been busily preparing our buildings and classrooms for teaching and learning!

For the first time in many years, all District 15 staff gathered together for a kick-off event on Monday, Aug. 12. The Harper College gymnasium was filled with energy as more than 1,200 staff members came together to hear from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Laurie Heinz, Board of Education President Lisa Szczupaj and keynote speaker DeEtta Jones.

Jones is a widely sought-after thought leader on issues ranging from social justice to everyday practices for nurturing a healthy organizational culture. Her presentation to District 15 staff centered on equity and cultural responsiveness in schools.

Dr. Heinz also shared her vision and direction for the future of District 15, including this year's thematic goal of "inspiring confidence." Over the next year, Dr. Heinz intends to refresh the district's strategic plan, take a deeper look at our facility needs and establish a consistent leadership rhythm.

Following the all-staff event, teachers and staff returned to their buildings to continue preparing for the start of school this week.

Fee Payment System Update

Our online fee payment system RevTrak is back up and running after temporarily being offline.

Maintenance conducted on the Infinite Campus system on Friday, July 26 resulted in a new URL to access the site, and also disturbed service to our RevTrak fee payment system temporarily. Infinite Campus and RevTrak have worked collaboratively to resolve the issue, and student fees can once again be paid online.

Fees can also be paid by check or cash by bringing payment to your child's school directly. Student fees are due November 1.

Back-to-School Information Available on School Websites

All parents should have received an email and text message from their building principal on July 23 with important information regarding the start of the school year.

All of this information is included on new back-to-school pages located on each school's website under the "About Us" or "Our School" sections.

Please read your school's back-to-school information page carefully. It includes important information on teacher assignment, school bus transportation, school hours, student attendance, PTA information and more. This website content replaces the paper packets once mailed to families each summer.

Transportation Updates Available in Campus Parent

Parents who requested paid transportation (by July 3) or adjustments to free transportation routes (by August 1) can view updated school bus transportation information by logging in to Campus Parent.

Please understand that paid ridership and route change requests are not guaranteed. The requests that we are able to accommodate are now visible by logging into Campus Parent. To view transportation information, please follow these instructions.

Any route change or paid ridership requests made after the previously mentioned deadline will be implemented on or before the week of Sept. 3.

Thank you for your patience and understanding regarding transportation as we begin the school year. The Transportation Department receives hundreds of requests for changes in bus routes. With each change made to a bus route, times and/or stops are altered for every child on that route. In order to avoid changing student bus routes multiple times during this time period, all general education bus route change requests made after Aug. 1 will be processed by Sept. 3. Requests regarding special education, new enrollments (free ridership only) and homeless transportation will be processed as they are received.
