‘GROWING GREATNESS / GRANDEZA EN CRECIMIENTO'
RESTROOM PROCESS AT BPMS
For safety reasons, as a school we have asked students to sign out and in when leaving the classroom. Students are encouraged to use the restroom, get water/fill their water bottles during passing time. We know that this is not always possible. If a student needs to use the restroom during class, teachers let them go. Students may be asked to wait until after teachers have given instructions for the day's lesson, or depending on how many students are out of the classroom, they may be asked to wait until a student returns. We understand and respect that students may need to use the restroom for a variety of reasons and sometimes the need is urgent. We also know that sometimes students are asking to leave the classroom to get out of doing their work or meet up with other students. Teachers are very understanding and will never deny a request for a student to use the restroom. Again, they may ask them to wait until after instructions have been given or others return from the restroom. If a teacher feels that a student may be abusing the privilege of using the restroom, they may talk with the student privately and/or may contact the student's parent/guardian to have a conversation.
PARENT/STUDENT WORKSHOP
During advisory, students have been working on AVID organizational skills. This includes a binder check and grade check on Fridays. Students make sure that they have the materials ready for the following week. As students transition to high school it is imperative that they are organized to be able to manage seven classes and be successful. During this workshop we will go over our expectations and how you can help. In addition, we would love to show you how to access ParentVue to be able to check grades and attendance.
This will be an in person workshop for parents and their student(s).

Our goal this year is to participate in some of the FBLA competitions as well. If FBLA turns into something you love, don’t worry, you can participate in the high school FBLA team when you get there.
As the temperatures get colder, it’s time to start preparing for winter weather! If the weather is severe enough to cancel school, the first day of inclement weather will be a snow day for all! Any inclement weather day thereafter will be an online learning day.
In the event of an online learning day, Canby High School will begin at 8:40 a.m. and all other schools will begin at 9:30 a.m. Students should watch for Zoom links from their teachers. If students have trouble connecting or need help, they should reach out to their teacher. Canby School District strives to make the most of this valuable educational time, but please know that students will not be penalized if they are unable to connect.
To make sure you’re set to receive information about school delays, or closures, and online learning days, please subscribe to Canby School District on FlashAlert. Now is also a good time to update your text preferences online by listing your phone number.
For more information, please see our inclement weather page.
