Social Media for Middle Schoolers

Social media plays a very large role in the lives of middle school students. While we do what we can to keep the negative parts of it out of the school, many of the disputes between the students stem from negative things said on social media. It is very easy to say mean things to someone online that you would not say to that person's face. Here are two articles that share some pros and cons about social media among pre-teens and teens. Please remember that the legal age for students to access social media is 13!

Morning Drop Off and Afternoon Pick Up

John Adams is a very busy place before and after school. Our priority during these times is to make sure that our students are safe. We know that the traffic is intense and are continually working to make the process easier for everyone. Here are a few options to make this process easier.

1. Use the parking lot drop off process and then turn right out of the parking lot.

2. Use 16th Ave as a drop off and pick up spot with students using the crosswalk.

3. Pick up students at 2:45 to avoid the initial traffic rush at dismissal

Please remember from 7:15 to 7:45 am and from 2:15 to 2:40 pm the circle drive in front of school is limited to buses only.

Thank you for helping to keep all our students safe!

No School - End of Quarter Work day

Friday, Nov. 8th, 7:30am-3pm

John Adams Middle School, Rochester, MN, USA

Rochester, MN

No students at school. Teachers will be working on grades and report cards.

Middle school students love to socialize. We as educators respect that need to interact with peers. We are working to help students understand that learning needs to be the priority and with that comes the need to be on time to class.

Our class periods are 46 minutes with a 4 minute passing time. Teachers are teaching from bell to bell and students are expected to be in their seat ready to learn when that bell rings.

A tardy every once in a while is fine. We're all late sometimes. Being chronically late to class begins to add up. Being 5 minutes late every day for a month amounts to almost 2 hours of missed instruction.

Skyward automatically calls you when your child has an unverified absence or tardy. If you are getting these calls when your child is in school, please speak with them about the importance of being in class on time. To prevent these calls remember to add an absence to Skyward or call the attendance line if your child will not be attending school due to illness, appointment or other important reason. Thank you for supporting your child in this area!
