Quality learning for all in a caring community.

Kounga ako mo katoa i roto i te taiao e atawhai ana.

Dear parents and friends of our school Kia Ora/Bora Da/Konichi Wa/Hello

Tena Koutou Katoa

The Friends of Toko School Committee met this week and have decided to run a modified Pig Hunt Challenge for any children/families that still want to go hunting over Labour weekend. Children can still enter the Big 3 - rabbit, hare, possum and the Goats Head and these can be brought to school on Tuesday 26th October. See below for details.

As mentioned in last weeks newsletter Calf and Lamb Day is another event that we can not run at Alert Level 2. This event can only proceed at Alert level 1. We have decided to move the date to Tuesday 26th October. If Calf and Lamb Day does not proceed we will be organising a fun Agricultural Day for the children.

The day will look something like this:

8.30 - 10.00 - Big Three and Goats can be dropped off at school

10.00 - 11.00 - Year 8 children can bring their lamb/calf or goat - leading demonstrations and show and tell with the whole school watching. Big Three and Goats - results

11.00 - 11.30 - Morning Tea

11.30 - 1.00 - Agricultural Games/Activities

1.00 - BBQ lunch supplied by the Friends of Toko School

2.00 - 3.00 Agricultural Games/Activities

Further details will be sent home after the school holidays.

The Hall of Creativity will be set up on Friday 22nd October.

Children that are still caring for and rearing a calf/lamb or goat are encouraged to take photos, create a poster/video or some other creative display to share and bring to school on Tuesday 26th October.

Ngā mihi

Final date for collection is THURSDAY 30th SEPTEMBER.

Thank you for your support this year.

School Accounts

I have sent accounts out today. If you have any quiries please contact Annette in the school office.

School Photos

These were taken today and will go away for processing. When this is completed (this does take some time) we will send a code home to each family to enable you to view the photos and then you are able to make your purchase.

School Tops

I have received the tee shirt orders and will send them home with the children tomorrow Friday.

Taranaki Trophy Rugby Results

On Tuesday 28th September the Y7&8 rugby team played in the finals for the Taranaki Trophy against MTSPA in Opunake. It was a hard but well played close game with a score of 31-39 to MTSPA. A huge thank you to Clint Hutchinson for coaching us and to the parents that provide transport on the day.

Mainland Cup

On Tuesday 28th September the Y7&8 netball team played in the finals for the Mainland cup against Oakura. It was a very competitive game and we brought home the trophy, winning by over 10 goals. Paris Mason from the Pulse was there to support the game and to present the cup. A huge thank you to Nicky McDonald Wells for coaching us and to the parents that provide transport on the day.

Touch - Term 4

Thank you for anyone that has returned their touch forms. Organisation of teams has been sent out today via the school app. This starts on the first Tuesday on Term 4. A draw will be sent as soon as it is received.

Travel Bags

We are on the hunt for 3 travel bags that are no longer in use to be able to use for our sports teams when they attend a tournament to be able to carry the team balls and supplies. If you have one that you are no longer using we would love to put it to use.

Tennis - Term 4

Bruce Cleland will be back in term 4 to coach tennis one afternoon for 6 weeks starting in November. This costs around $50 per child for 1 hour group sessions for years 2 and above. If your child is interested in this please email more information to follow next term.

Hello all,

Yes it’s that time of the year again and we would like to welcome you all to our free open days to kick the season off.

So dust off the cobwebs and weather permitting we could see you on Saturday at the Stratford Courts

You are more than welcome to bring your friends and family and to spread the word.

We have a number of health related books that parents/families are able to issue and read together at home. We will keep featuring books via our newsletter. At the moment our Year 6 - 8 classes are focusing on Positive Puberty so here are some books to support this:

Remember to get those art order forms in by tomorrow morning. We doubt that there will be a second order, as we have done in the past in term 4, so get your orders in now.

With the holidays quickly approaching we are needing some helpers to feed the chickens. It will only be Wednesday and Friday of the first week, and Monday, Wednesday and Friday the second week. If we get enough helpers it will only be one day each. Please get in touch with Mrs Coulson if you are able to help. Thanks.

If anyone has a spare bail of hay we would really appreciate it for the chicken sheds. Please get in touch with Mrs Coulson about this.
