CHS Choir Update #1
A Weekly Newsletter for Friends & Family of the CHS Choir
Greetings CHS Choir Family!
I hope this email finds each of you well and eagerly looking forward to the start of the new school year. This email is the first in a series of weekly newsletters you will receive as a member of our program and is provided to you to help engage and connect you with our community. These emails will be sent out each week and will contain critical program information about the week ahead. Your review of this information is greatly appreciated.
If you are new to our program, "Welcome!" You have chosen to join an incredible team of young people that support one another and share a deep love of singing with their peers. We cannot wait to greet you, welcome you, and knit you into our family. While these next few weeks may feel like a whirlwind of adjustment and change, please know that you are not alone and that we've got your back!
The CHS Choir Council's motto for the year is "Together, We Can!" and nothing could be more true. There will undoubtedly be unforeseen challenges that arise and many moments during which we will all be asked to extend grace, to ourselves and others. But no matter what life throws our way this year, we are confident that if we stick together and look out for one another, we will thrive!
Below you will find important information related to your involvement with the Choirs of Centennial for the 2020-2021 school year. Please take a moment to review this information to ensure that you well prepared for the year ahead. Have questions or need some help interpreting this information? Let us know. We are here for you.
Remember: "Together, We Can!"

CHS Choir Department Handbook & Forms
Below you will find a copy of the CHS Choir Department Handbook. This handbook is provided as a tool used to help familiarize families with the policies, procedures, and opportunities that exist for students within our department.
Families are asked to review this document with special attention to the following areas:
- Expectations for Student Engagement
- Grading Guidelines
- Attendance/Rehearsal Policies
- Program Fees
- Uniform Guidelines
After you have reviewed the handbook, please open and sign the digital forms posted below. Forms, fees, and how we will use them will be explored in greater detail at our Back to School Meeting hosted via Zoom on Thursday, Sept 3rd. Forms are due by Sept. 9th. Fees ($70) are due by Sept. 11th. Please contact Mr. Cooley if paper copies of these documents are required.
For our Virtual Learners
As we begin the new school year, we want to provide our virtual learners with a little more information to help them access and engage in learning alongside their in-person peers this year.
- Classrooms Sessions will be live-streamed each day and posted in Schoology for review by all students prior to 4:00 PM Each day (Periods 1-4 will be posted by Noon). Learn more about how to access classroom streams/content by clicking HERE.
- Students that enrolled in virtual learning may attend in-person classroom rehearsals and after school practice sessions. While transportation is the responsibility of the student/family, we are thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to our students who may need to remain at home for the majority of instruction during the 1st six weeks.
- Parents, click HERE to learn about some of the ways you can support your student as they engage in instruction at home. Your enthusiasm, understanding, and support of your student as they embark on this very personal work is critical to their success
- Virtual Learning Expectations for students working from home - Click HERE
- Can't access the live stream for your class? Email Mr. C at ecooley@bisdmail.net or the Choir Google Hotline at 682-233-0343 for assistance.
Welcome Back Bags!
Bags will be distributed to in-person learners during the school each day this week. A special pick up will be hosted on Wednesday afternoon from 5:00-7:00 PM for those students who are not able to join us on campus during the school day. A reservation form will be sent to all virtual learners via email by the end of the day tomorrow.
T-Shirts and Pullovers will be distributed following the collection of student activity fees.

Voice Lesson Enrollment is Now Open!
It is the goal of the Centennial High School Choral Department to provide the very best learning experience for every student enrolled in our program. One way in which the Choral Department realizes this goal is through the Music Enrichment Program (CMEP). By choosing to participate in this program, students will receive individualized instruction that will help them develop a greater understanding of healthy singing techniques and performance habits that will serve them for years to come. For more information about this program and how we use it to promote student growth, please click on the links below.
