HRMS NEWS
December 15, 2020
Dear HRMS Families,
This newsletter has information on the HRCSD transfer process, Office Hours, The December Middle Years, and the HRMS Canned Food Drive.
HRCSD Secondary Schools Transfer Option
Between now and January 8, 2021, your family may choose for your secondary student(s) to transfer between your neighborhood school and Hood River Options Academy (HROA) by completing the steps outlined below. Families with elementary students will have the same opportunity to transfer programs at the end of the second trimester (March 1, 2021). As that date approaches, those families will receive a similar message that outlines the steps for the transfer process.
In addition to outlining the steps to complete to transfer programs, the end of this message includes information on COVID-19 in Hood River County and plans to reopen schools. Please review this information, too, as you consider educational options for your family.
Steps to Complete to Transfer Programs
This list includes the items you need to complete by Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, in order to transfer your student between your neighborhood school and HROA. Your student will make that transition on Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, which is the first day of the second semester, and will remain in this program for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year.
First, complete this Google Form to request materials to transfer programs
Second, review, complete, and submit the agreement form required to transfer programs. This form will be distributed to you via email and postal mail.
Read the information that provides an overview of Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL) at HRCSD schools and HROA
Sign and submit the agreement form to transfer educational programs for the second semester by Friday, Jan. 8, 2021
HRMS Regular Office Hours Resume
HRMS will end extended office phone hours after January 4, 2021. Our “new” office phone hours will return to 7:30 AM-4:00 PM during work days. Hood River County Schools extended office phone hours in the fall to provide students and families with additional opportunities to ask questions and receive support. Now that students and families have become familiar with distance learning processes and tools, very few, if any, calls have been coming in during the extended hours.
December Middle Years
There are some great tips in the December Middle Years. I recommend the article on Kindness and Advice.
