Students of the Month
Mikayla Alford
Mikayla was nominated by Mrs. Phillips, Mrs. Bond, and Mrs. Stogner.
She is a wonderful student who has a contagious smile! She always gets excited about checking our books in the library!
Rafael Ramirez
Rafael was nominated by Mrs. Stogner, Mrs. Hundley, and Mrs. Hawk.
Rafael is the type of student that goes unnoticed because he is always doing what he is supposed to do. He is a hard worker and always answers with a "yes ma'am". He is a joy to have in class. It isn't for those reasons alone that I nominate him.
Rafael is a great help and friend to others. I see him helping others clean up their mess, clearing up directions for students that are not doing something correctly, and just all-around offering help to those around him.
He is never unkind in the manner that he goes about helping kids get back on track or stay on track. I am so proud of Rafael! He is the kind of student that we need more of!
Employee of the Month
Maria Nava
Students know they can come into the office and ask Maria anything, and that she will know or know how to get the answer. They know she cares about them.
She works hard, loves students and staff, and supports her own children and their activities at multiple campuses. She is a huge band booster at the high school.
Teacher of the Month
Mrs. LeJeune
She has come in as a veteran teacher (but new to GISD and Lee) and has taken the challenge of leading the 6th grade team to new heights this year, supporting our students in reading and writing and supporting her teacher partners immensely. Mrs. LeJeune has a wealth of classroom and administrative experience. She has played a key role in helping develop strategies for her 6th grade team, as well helping our site-based committee with the Campus
Improvement Plan, the Texas Lesson Study, and more. She is truly a team player.
Students know that Mrs. LeJeune is extremely knowledgeable in her content, and that she will help them with anything. She has jumped in to be the 6th grade ELAR lead her first year here, and her teaching partners love her! They often meet on the weekend to make sure they are ready for students on Mondays. She is positive with students, encourages them even when they are hesitant to answer or ask questions. She helps them feel safe and eager to
learn with her attitude, perspective, and passion.
Mrs. LeJeune will have a huge impact helping our campus and District in the march towards literacy and success for every student.

Give a Leopard a High Five!
The Leopard High Five program is a way for you to salute any Gainesville ISD employee who goes above and beyond what is expected. Whether you are a parent impressed with that special touch your child's teacher added to a moment, or you are a co-worker who thinks the campus PEIMS clerk doesn't hear often enough about the great job she is doing, you can send a Leopard High Five! Nominations can be made by any parent, student, community member, or co-worker and any employee within Gainesville ISD is eligible to receive a High Five. Give lots of High Fives!
The link is located on our website and is always open for nominations.
National Principals Month
October 2019 is designated as National Principals Month in honor of the work of campus administrators across the state and nation. With resolutions adopted by both the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives and proclamations issued by numerous state governors, the national recognition is an initiative of the National Association of Elementary School Principals and the National Association of Secondary School Principals. We are taking this opportunity to recognize our campus Principals and Assistant Principals and #ThankAPrincipal during the month of October.
