LMS Tiger Talk

#EveryTigerEveryDay
Principal’s Message
Well, here we are, the end of the third quarter! Time sure does fly when you are having fun. And speaking of time, don't forget to turn those clocks on Saturday night. I know my family is very excited about an extra hour of sunlight starting this weekend, although I'd be okay if this snow decided to blow right past us. I hope all is well with you and yours.
Today, while students hopefully got to sleep in a little bit and enjoy their day off, our LMS staff was busy here at school closing out the quarter, entering grades, and planning for the 4th quarter. We'll be posting 3rd quarter grades to TigerParent.me by Thursday of next week. You'll find your child's grades in the eBackback but if you have any questions about how to access those (or anything else regarding the report cards), please reach out to us here at school.
Please note, next Friday, 3/18 is the LAST day to place an order for the 21-22 LMS yearbook. Don't miss out on the memories! Information on how to order online can be found below.
Last, please stay tuned next week for a pretty exciting announcement regarding an upcoming Tiger Up! student incentive opportunity for students this spring. We hope you have an awesome weekend and we'll see our students back at school ready to start Q4 on Monday!
Take care and go Tigers!

LMS Update for the 22-23 School Year
- Stronger teacher-student relationships based on an improved understanding of the students and their specific learning needs.
- Holistic academic, social, and emotional supports for our developing, adolescent learners.
- Integration of curriculum and skills across content areas more readily and effectively.
- Familiar and tiered transitions from LIS to LMS and from LMS to LHS
- Streamlined communication between teachers and parents.
The other changes for our current 7th grader students impact students in the general/college prep pathway, who will move to a single bell of ELA instruction for their 8th-grade year at LMS. This is the same amount of instructional time for ELA that students in this pathway will have at LHS and creates opportunities for more of our 8th-grade students to access World Language courses for high school credit while at the middle school.
If you have any questions about what this may mean for your student, please reach out to Kim Shafer, LMS counselor, at shaferki@lovelandschools.org or by calling the school.

Second Step Social Emotional Learning
At LMS and across Loveland Schools, we want every child to be successful in school and that means supporting and encouraging their whole development. While excelling in academic classes is important, students also need skills to take on learning challenges, make good decisions, handle strong emotions, and get along with others.
This week, LMS students continue with social-emotional learning through the Second Step program, a research-based social-emotional learning program designed to improve students’ social-emotional skills, such as emotion management, impulse control, problem-solving, and empathy.
Through our Tiger Talk, with the purpose of providing this information with our families, we will be communicating “Family Connections” regularly to communicate the social-emotional learning topic and summary as well as a potential question to ask your child at home to continue the learning and connection.
7th Grade SEL Second Step Family Connections
8th Grade SEL Second Step Family Connections
If you have any questions about the Second Step program at LMS, please do not hesitate to contact Kim Shafer, LMS counselor, for more information. Ms. Shafer can be reached at shaferki@lovelandschools.org.
