solubility lab
by Peter Ferguson
Purpose and Procedure
The purpose of this lab was to test the solubility of 4 different substances.A substance is soluble if it dissolves in water.
step1: Put the baking soda in a cup of water.
step2: take a picture of the baking soda in the water.
step3: stir the baking soda with a spoon for 2 minutes .
step4: take a picture of the of the water.
step5: redo step1-4 with a different substances.
baking soda before
It did not do anything but go in the water and go away
baking soda after
It looked the same in the water when I steered it.the baking soda dissolved .
flour before
it stayed at the top of the water
flour after
it all went to the bottom of the water. The flour not dissolved .
powdered sugar before
it stayed on the top
powdered sugar after
It made the water all white like milk. The powdered sugar dissolved .
table salt before
it stayed at the top of the cup
table salt after
the table salt made the water cloudy. The table salt dissolved.
Conclusion
that substances that are soluble are baking soda, powdered sugar and table salt i know that these are soluble because they mix in the water and dissolved. The substance that was not soluble was the flour. I know this because it did not dissolve in the water.
