Parenting Virtual Learners
Edition 8
Action for Happiness: Friendly February
We need each other more than ever right now! This month let's focus on reaching out to connect with others and doing our best to be a good friend. Our acts of kindness and connection ripple out and impact so many more people than we realize - and they also boost our own happy hormones too! In stressful times people around us may be feeling the strain, so let's try to keep calm, take time to listen and show compassion.

At Home Plan To Support Virtual Learners
PART 1
This is a three part series on supporting virtual learners at home. Today we will talk about the importance of setting family routines. Setting routines at home is extremely important to your child's success. Routines are what drives our daily instruction at school. The benefits of doing this at home are:
It mirrors a typical school day and a typical schedule
Provides opportunities for you to provide a wholesome day for your child (exercise, snacks, relationship growth, etc.)
Gives us an opportunity to look at times of the day that our children may need extra support
Connects school and home together within a schedule
It can be very structured for students that need step by step breakdowns within their schedule
Supports students that struggle with organization, and helps anxious students by letting them know what is next!
Setting family routines are a great way to tie the virtual learning world and your family life and values into a schedule. This supports the two by supporting the students academic needs but also providing opportunities for your family to “fill their bucket” with the things that are important to your family structure! Part 2 will be Choosing Expectations At Home.
