Dear ROYALS Families,
Dear Royal Families,
Congratulations to our Royals for their participation in the wonderful end-of-year music concerts, athletic seasons and the unveiling of art at the Adams County Government Building. We are so proud of them!
Last week you received communication from our district regarding the Chromebook collection at the end of the year. If you missed it, you can read that here. The different Chromebook collection dates are as follows: 8th grade will be Thursday, 5/19, 6th grade will be Friday, 5/20 and 7th grade will be Tuesday, 5/24. If your child is ending school early due to a family reason, they will need to turn in their Chromebook, case and charger before they leave.
The 8th grade Chromebook collection consists of checking to see that the Chromebook and charger are those that were checked out to them. Students are guaranteed a same generation/age of device and have the option to take one home with them. This means if an 8th grader has a new device, we will need to collect that new device and exchange it with an older device for them to take home. If you don’t need the device, Mr. Ayi Bonte will be traveling again to his hometown in Ghana and will gladly take any donated devices with him. Please let the Pathways teacher know if you would like to donate your child’s device for this purpose. Every 27J 9th grader will receive a new Chromebook next year.
Thursday, May 19th is Field Day! You can view the Field Day schedule here and are welcome to come and cheer on the activities during the specific grade level times. We will also have a Kona Ice truck for our Royals as part of this celebration funded by our school. Because of the number of students and limited time, we ask that parents refrain from purchasing Kona Ice that day. If you want a sneak preview of the fun, here is the promotional video.
Our Yearbooks are in and we will be passing them out to students during their lunch recess on Field Day. We have a very limited number of yearbooks for purchase for $40.00. Please email me, tnorrisbuck@sd27j.net, if you would like to reserve a yearbook.
Breakfast and Lunch Service for next school year will no longer be free. In August, breakfast will cost $2.25 and lunch will cost $3.75 for middle level students. Should your family need assistance with this, you can start the application process now through payschoolscentral.com.
Here is a recap of announcements related to the grade based field trips at the end of the year:
6th Grade will be going to Boondocks on May 24th. Permission slips came home this week.
7th Grade will be going to Sky Zone on May 20th. Permission slips were sent home a few weeks ago with behavioral expectations on the back. If you have not seen one, please check with your student. You can also reach out to your student's pathways teacher. Each guardian must complete the SkyZone waiver.
8th Grade will be going to Elitch Gardens on May 20th. Permission slips went home this week along with the behavioral expectations.
Best,
Trina Norris-Buck, Ed.S.
