This Week:
ELAR
We are continuing our unit on Non-Fiction Text. We will be identifying text features and discussing how to find information in a text.
Books
Throughout the week we will read many books. Here are some of the books we will read this week.
National Geographic Readers: Ugly Animals Read Aloud
Sight Words
First graders need to know an assortment of sight words in order to help them read. By the end of the school year, our students should know the 1st 100 Fry sight words.
This week we will focus on the words: because, again.
Spelling
The spelling words this week include: church, thick, sharp, phone, sing, why, restful, unlock, bark, clap
Phonics and Grammar
We will be reviewing letter names and sounds that we learned in Kindergarten and moving beyond the basic sounds to include digraphs, trigraphs, blends, and so much more.
We are identifying verbs, nouns, and adjectives.
This week we are learning about prefixes and suffixes.
