PALCS' Ed Tech Chef
Don't Just Sit and Listen - Jump in the Kitchen!
Let's Get Cooking!
- Each participant will choose a utensil upon check-in on Monday, August 24
- The color of the utensil will be the participant's team for the Ed Tech Chef challenge
- The teams will pick from two options (more info below): Fusion Cuisine Challenge or Corporate Dinner Challenge
- The teams will break up and find a place to work on their challenge
- All teams will have two common ingredients that they must address with their challenge: Relevance & Relationships
- A member of the Academic Leadership Team will be around to give them an envelope of their Secret Ingredients. They must use their ingredients to complete their challenge
- Teams will get one hour to work. They will submit a link to their challenge answer here
- Each team will get 2 minutes to present their challenge answer to the whole group
- The whole group will be invited to vote for their favorite presentation/project
- Answers will be judged by the Academic Leadership Team. Those results plus whole group voting will decide a winner that will be announced on Tuesday morning

- Your team will have people from various teaching backgrounds, subject areas, and ability levels. Make sure you incorporate everyone's point of view and gifts
- Your challenge ingredients will force you to think outside of your comfort zone and current teaching assignment, and we encourage you to embrace that!

Option 1 - Fusion Cuisine Challenge
Develop a project tied to a subject area standard (you pick)
Your common ingredients are:
- Must address relevance
- Must address relationships
Among the secret ingredients are:
- Types of learners to consider (grade level, ELL, Special Needs, etc)
- A specific ISTE Standard for Students
- A focus (Digital Citizenship, STEM, Global Learners, Empathy, Leadership, etc)

Option 2 - Corporate Dinner Challenge
You're developing a new app to help teachers solve a specific problem. Pitch your idea.
Your common ingredients are:
- Must address relevance
- Must address relationships
Among the secret ingredients are:
- Types of learners to consider (grade level, ELL, Special Needs, etc)
- A specific ISTE Standard for Students
- A focus (Digital Citizenship, STEM, Global Learners, Empathy, Leadership, etc)
