Banned Books
"Where the side walk ends"
A teacher in a Colorado high school ,recommended reading "Where the side walk ends " but told people not to tell nay one because she could lose her job. Part f the push for the books was the short nature of the poems, taking up a lot of room with few words, as well as the slightly weird ad humors word play and drawings. It was a surprise to see it was on Walden books list of banned books, for undermining "parental, school, and religious authority." Read as a child , rioting against authority was not a theme interpreted from the short, franciful and weird poems of Silverstiens.
