RETURNING TO FULL IN-PERSON LEARNING
VCS families also have the ability to “re-determine” their In-person or Remote choice through Friday, April 2nd. If you do not contact the front office, we will place all current hybrid (Cohort A/B) students into 5-day In-person learning, and current remote instruction students will remain remote. If you wish to make a change from this, please contact the VCS East or VCS West front office on or before Friday, April 2nd.
Click the button below for more details.
CARLINE
We are going to Pilot a new pick up pattern starting Monday, April 5th for pick up. Please follow staff directions as we are not using the ACCO lot. You will still enter the same way. The change will occur at the first cross walk.
In order for our carline to run smoothly and swiftly, please remember and follow these basic guidelines:
- Drop-off: 7:25-7:50 a.m.
- Pick-up: 3:15-3:45 p.m.
- DO NOT SPEED. The speed limit within our carline is 5 mph.
- Pull up as far as you can in the lane.
- Please STAY OFF of your cell phones through the carline. This includes texting.
PLEASE BE PATIENT.
There are approximately 400 students who are being dropped off and picked up at the same time.
Model the character we want to see in our kids.
Though you may feel inconvenienced at times by our system, it is in place to keep your child(ren) safe. We ask that you respect these procedures as well as the people who are stationed out at carline. Your cooperation will ensure safety for everyone in our community.
CMAS
Beginning Tuesday, April 6th, our students will join other students throughout Colorado in taking a set of state tests called the CMAS (Colorado Measures of Academic Success). The waiver for reduced testing was approved on Friday, 3/26 by the federal government, so testing sessions will be as follows:
- 3rd, 5th, 7th grades: 3 ELA sessions only
- 4th, 6th: 3 Math sessions only
- 8th: 3 Math sessions & 3 Science sessions
Remote students are automatically exempt from CMAS this year. If you would like your student to participate in testing, please contact Lish Davis (edavis@vanguardclassical.org) to set up an appointment.
We ask that you make a special effort to have your child(ren) to school on time every day as the assessments will begin soon after arrival. Listed below are important things students can do to help ensure they are ready each day to do their best.
- Get a good night’s sleep.
- Eat a healthy breakfast.
- Come to school on time, every day.
- Per state requirements, cell phones are not allowed in the testing environment. Secondary students must have their phones turned off and stored in their lockers. Elementary students must give their phones to their teachers to be placed in a secure location.
- Do your very best.
Thank you for your assistance in our completion of CMAS testing.
According to Aurora Public Schools polices (adopted by VCS), IKA and IKAR, the parent/guardian of a student enrolled in the district may request that their child be exempt from participating in one or more state assessments.
Filling out the form below meets the requirements for our district and the Colorado Department of Education.
We will have a yearbook this year!
K-8 families...we need your help!
Send teachers photos of your child with their completed projects, in their remote learning space, doing a fun activity with the family, enjoying time outside, etc. by Friday, February 26, 2021.
Core Virtue of the Month: GRACIOUSNESS AND COURTESY
- Graciousness is acting kindly, courteously, and making another feel special.
- Courtesy is showing respect through kindness, politeness, and consideration of the other.
Attendance
Attendance in every class every day is essential for your child's academic growth. In the event that your child cannot be in class, make sure to call the front desk at 303-691-2384. You will receive an automated phone call in the evening if your child was absent from any classes throughout the day if you do not call in to notify us of the absence. You may email teachers to get make up work, but call the front desk, as well.
Specials, Enrichment, and ELD classes are required for all K-8 students.

MEDICATIONS & IMMUNIZATIONS
This is the school nurse Ms. Porter reminding you that if your child has medications needed at school or a health condition needing a health care plan from their physician, please drop them off at the school before they return to hybrid learning on March 22nd or March 23rd. Make sure all medications are properly labeled with your child’s name and prescription when dropping off and physicians orders signed.
Remember if you have not handed in your child’s UPDATED immunizations please send those to me or drop them off at the front desk. If you plan on excusing your child from immunizations, I will need an updated personal or medical exemption form filled out. All these forms can be downloaded below, filled out, and emailed to aporter@vanguardclassical.org.
Stay healthy, happy, and safe!!
