Tiger Math Championship Team Pictured l - r Daylen Regner, Logan Gramling, Pedro Alvarez, & Praveen Lockuliyanage

Tiger Pedro Alvarez Advances to US National Championship!

We are extremely proud of our Tiger Math Team, The Greater Numbers. On Saturday, May 11, they competed with 152 students from 36 public and independent schools in a state-wide championship contest at the Fort Settlement Middle School in Sugar Land.

The results are: Our Tigers are celebrating a 7th Place win among Division 5 schools and an 11th Place win in the Overall Sweepstakes. In the individual category, Pedro Alvarez earned a 7th Place finish among fifth grade participants. Pedro's scores earn him the right to advance to the U S National Championship and recognition as one of the best mathletes in the state.

West Cypress Hills marks its 4th consecutive year of attendance at the state championship and 3rd consecutive year of having at least one Tiger advance to the national level. The 6th annual U S National Elementary Championship will be held at Texas A & M University on June 15, 2019.

We are all so proud of the entire Tiger Math Team, The Greater Numbers, and we owe many thanks to their math coaches, Abhi Raghavan, Muriel Ramirez, and Erika Serhus.

Good luck at the U S National Championship, Pedro!

Spring Traffic Patterns and Student Safety Concerns

Spring is here, and with that comes beautiful weather. As we see more sunny skies and pretty days, we also see an increased number of students dismissed as walkers instead of them being designated as car or bus riders at dismissal.

We have noticed an increased number of cars parked on both sides of Sabino Drive, causing concerns about the safety of our students. Please help us with the following dismissal procedures:

  • if you are picking up students via car, please use the car rider line in lieu of parking on Sabino to meet your students.
  • if your students are solo or escorted walkers, they should only cross Sabino Drive at the crosswalk or cross Sabino with a parent escort. Students should not cross Sabino alone due to the heavy traffic on that road at dismissal time.

Thank you for your help in keeping our Tigers safe as we move into our last month of the 2018-2019 school year.
