Dear Irmo High Parents/Guardians:
District 5 is continuing its partnership with BrightBytes, an educational research organization, in order to learn more about our students’ technology use. We are reaching out to ask you to take part in a Technology & Learning survey.
Your participation is essential to help us form a more complete picture of technology use for learning in our students’ lives. Please know that all of your responses are anonymous and will help our school choose the right technology for classrooms. It will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete the survey.
The survey opens on Monday, April 24 and the last day to complete this survey is Friday, May 5, 2023. Please complete the survey using the link below:

Student Highlights
Girls Track
Congratulations to the Girls track 4x100m team Elisha Rush-Glover, Kadence Livingston, Leah Lindsay and Nya Singletary for qualifying to New Balance High School Nationals. It will be held at the University of Pennsylvania Franklin Field. We are having a Car Wash on May 6th at 9-1pm please come and support IHS track and field. See you there!
IHS Chorus
IHS Chorus students participated in the World Strides Heritage Festival at the University of New Orleans on Saturday, April 1. We performed repertoire for 3 outside judges and received scores and positive feedback. Members of the IHS Concert Choir received a Gold rating (the highest possible) AND received first place in the division for the weekend!
Palmetto Girls State
Congratulations to our 2022-23 Palmetto Girls State Delegates: Ariel Boulware,(Bottom-R) Amelia Hewitt (Top- R) and Fejiro Sainyo!(L) We are so very proud and know that each of you will represent Irmo High School well!
HBCU Panel
A few weeks ago, Mr. Coleman's African American History class hosted a HBCU and NPHC panel to learn more about how the education of Black and African Americans changed over the course of history. Students were able to discuss their thoughts regarding college and fraternity/sorority life and ask questions about these topics to current Irmo staff members. Mr. Coleman's class would like to thank Dr. Xandria Sutton representing Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., Ms. Cherisha Floyd representing Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and SC State University, Ms. Janel Johnson representing Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and Claflin Univeristy, Coach Diargo Summers representing Benedict College, and Dr. Brandy Jeffcoat representing Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

Final Exam Information
Student Attendance Updates
- All students who are arriving late or leaving early must enter/exit through the Attendance Office entrance.
- Parent notes and medical excuses must be turned in within three (3) days of the student's absence.
- The new email address for the Irmo High School attendance office is IHSattendance@lexrich5.org. Please use this email for excuses and early dismissals.
- Seat Time Recapture ends on May 13th. After this date, students will not be able to make up seat time due to excessive absences. Students and guardians, please ensure that arrangements to attend seat time recapture have been arranged if you are in need of making up seat time. Contact Jessica Marze at jmarze@lexrich5.org if you have questions regarding seat time.
Deadline Approaching - Extended Studies Forms
Extended Studies Community Service Forms are due May 1,2023.. No late forms will be accepted. Blank forms are available in the School Counseling Office. See Ms. Gantt in the School Counseling department if you have any additional questions or concerns.
22-23 Student Ids
Students please refer to your grade level Google classroom to read and complete the Google Form for the 2023/2024 ID pictures. The deadline to complete this form is 19 May 2023. Thank you for your cooperation.
PowerSchool Parent Portal
We are now in the 4th and final quarter of the school year!
All parents/guardians need access to Parent Portal. Please see the presentation below for more information about PowerSchool's Parent Portal, which allows students, parents, and guardians to monitor grades and attendance. NCAA Eligibility
High school student-athletes focused on playing their sport at the NCAA level won't want to miss this informative hour with the Eligibility Center staff. Learn about next steps, based on your year in high school and how the removal of standardized test score requirements may impact your eligibility experience. SAT Scores
SAT School Day Scores are now available! Students have access to their scores beginning on March 23 by logging in to their online score report. Please click on the link titled "Student Score Reports". If you do not have an account, you will need to create one. The makeup day for the school day SAT is April 25. Please complete the SCDE survey via PowerSchool. It can be found by going to 'Form' on the left-hand side and then under 'General Forms' you will find the survey. Please do this as soon as possible.

Updated transcripts reflecting completed semester 1 courses are now available for viewing in Parchment. Students can access this information via their online Parchment account. If you have questions please contact your students assigned school counselor.
Yearbooks
The 2023 Irmo High School Yearbook is sold out! Students interested in getting on the waitlist to purchase a yearbook should use the form in their grade level google classroom. Yearbooks will be sold to students on the waitlist on a first come, first served basis in late May.
Hiring Event
Discounted Internet Services
You may be eligible for discounted or even free internet services! The federal Affordable Connectivity Program offers a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households and certain eligible families can get this high-speed internet at no cost. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet. Eligibility for the program includes households that qualify for free and reduced lunch, Medicaid, WIC, SNAP and Federal Housing Assistance. There are several other criteria that can determine qualifications as well to help ensure that households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare and more. New District Volunteer Policy
In order to become a volunteer or chaperone, please complete the Volunteer Application and Confidentiality Agreement for School Volunteers and return it to the IHS volunteer liaison, Ms. Zakhar, in the main office. In order for your application to be considered, an official photo ID must be included when submitting the required paperwork. If you plan to be a volunteer tutor, volunteer coach, assist with the band/step program, or plan to chaperone a field trip, you must fill out the district Volunteer Application and Confidentiality Agreement. These applications are approved for three years but are subject to review. Also, your application may be submitted to the S.C. Law Enforcement Division (SLED) for a background check, a sex offender background check, and the Department of Social Services (DSS Child Abuse Registry). Based on information received from these agencies, you may not be permitted to become a volunteer. Please reach out to Ms. Cindy Zakhar at (803) 476-3001 or czakhar@lexrich5.org with any questions.
