2014 ALA YOUTH MEDIA AWARDS
Each year the American Library Association honors books, videos, and other outstanding materials for children and teens. Recognized worldwide for the high quality they represent, the ALA Youth Media Awards, including the prestigious Newbery, Caldecott, Printz, and Coretta Scott King Book Awards, guide parents, educators, librarians, and others in selecting the best materials for youth. Selected by committees composed of librarians and other literature and media experts, the awards encourage original and creative work in the field of children’s and young adult literature and media. We are featuring award winning books in one of our Blue Box displays. A few of this years winners and honor books are on display, these include: Locomotive by Brian Floca, Journey by Aaron Becker, Flora and the flamingo by Molly Idle, P.S. Be Eleven by Rita Williams-Garcia, and Nelson Mandela by Kadir Nelson.

Fox Forever by Mary Pearson -- Locke Jenkins has a Favor to repay. While escaping from the heinous Dr. Gatsbro, Locke was aided by the Network, non-civilians helping those on the outskirts of society. There was only one condition: Someday he would have to return to Boston and do something for them. Locke just wants to finish his assignment and start his real life with Jenna Fox, but this is no ordinary Favor. Karden, the long-lost leader of the Resistance, may actually be alive. In order to find out, Locke is charged with infiltrating the home and life of a seventeen-year-old Raine, the privileged daughter of a government official. Completing this mission will plunge Locke into an underground world he didn't know existed and will require him to do things that go far beyond simple "Favors" as he is pulled deeper into the Resistance -- and into Raine's life.
Dinosoaring by Deb Lund -- Dinoliers rule the air! They grin and spin without a care. Their daring dinothrills and chills will never end in dinospills will they...? Lucky they packed their parachutes! In this exuberant follow up to Dinosailors and All Aboard the Dinotrain, the rollicking rhymes and paintings of reckless reptiles are dinofabulous.
