Important News!
We will send home weekly folders on Wednesdays this year. All important school information and student assignments will come home in this folder. Please check this folder weekly and return before the following Wednesday. Don't forget to sign the front of the folder.
Planners are on-sale for $8.00. You can send in money with your child. All students will need a planner to communicate about homework nightly.
Students will start iReady testing next week, so please make sure that they have a pair of headphones to keep at school.

Math
MD.3.3- Recognize volume as an attribute of solid figures and understand concepts of volume measurement.
- A cube with side length 1 unit, called a “unit cube,” is said to have “one cubic unit” of volume, and can be used to measure volume.
- A solid figure which can be packed without gaps or overlaps using n unit cubes is said to have a volume of n cubic units.
MD.3.4- Measure volumes by counting unit cubes, using cubic cm, cubic in, cubic ft., and improvised units.
We will take our first formative assessment on Tuesday- August 20th
Our first summative will be Friday- August 23rd. All dates are subject to change
Science
Students will learn how to: Define a problem, use appropriate reference materials to support scientific understanding, plan and carry out scientific investigations of various types such as: systematic observations, experiments requiring the identification of variables, collecting and organizing data, interpreting data in charts, tables, and graphics, analyze information, make predictions, and defend conclusions.
Social Studies
SS.5.G.1.1-Interpret current and historical information using a variety of geographic tools.
SS.5.G.1.2-Use latitude and longitude to locate places.
SS.5.G.1.3-Identify major United States physical features on a map of North America.
SS.5.G.1.4-Construct maps, charts, and graphs to display geographic information.
SS.5.G.1.6-Locate and identify states, capitals, and United States Territories on a map.
SS.5.G.4.1- Use geographic knowledge and skills when discussing current events.
SS.5.G.4.2- Use geography concepts and skills such as recognizing patterns, mapping, graphing to find solutions for local, state, or national problems.
