The October Great ShakeOut EarthQuake Drill
- Drop, Cover, and Hold On: Drop to the ground, take Cover under a table or desk, and Hold On to it as if a major earthquake were happening (stay down for at least 60 seconds). Practice now so you will immediately protect yourself during earthquakes!
- While still under the table, or wherever you are, look around and imagine what would happen in a major earthquake. What would fall on you or others? What would be damaged? What would life be like after? What will you do before the actual earthquake happens to reduce losses and quickly recover?
- Finally, practice what your community will do after the shaking stops.
- A great step for after your "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" drill is to practice how to communicate with family, friends, and co-workers. Texting first before making phone calls is highly recommended. Learn more from ShakeOut partner Safe America Foundation and their "Text First. Talk Second." campaign, including how to hold a texting drill.

Breakfast/Lunch Payment Procedures have CHANGED
Dear Students, Parents/Guardians,
Beginning October 1, 2019 payments made on your child's cafeteria account will no longer be accepted by Mrs. Snyder in the office. The corporation has made a few adjustments and all cafeteria funds will be handled by our Food Service Director, Mrs. Johnson.
We encourage families to take advantage of our online electronic payment system. You can access this through the schools website, under the efunds tab or click the link/button below.
For those that prefer to send in check or cash payments; envelopes/pink slips will be sent home with your student. Parents/Guardians must complete the front of envelope. Students may then deliver the payment envelopes to the safe located outside of the kitchen door in cafeteria.
Payments will be collected daily at 9:30 A.M. and applied to the student account for funds to be available. Payments placed into the safe after this time (9:30am) will not be posted until the next school day, therefore those funds will not be available until the next school day.
Payments made for more than one student from the same household can use same envelope as long as ALL students names are listed and amounts per student are defined.
If you have any questions, please contact Culver Community Elementary School office 574-842-3389 or Mrs. Johnson, FSD 574-842-3391 x 711.
Thank you,
Mrs. Gretchen Johnson, FSD

Weather Alerts and Notifications/ Notifying the Office when your Child is Sick
- As the weather starts to really get chilly and students are beginning to catch the flu bug, there are a few things that we need you to remember:
- Please make sure that your child leaves the house appropriately dressed for the weather. We still go outside for recess even when it is pretty chilly outside.
- Do not drop your children off at the front door prior to 7:30. The doors do not get unlocked until the assistant gets there at 7:30.
- If the weather looks like it may be too treacherous for school, please check WNDU, WSBT, or FOX22 for closings or school delays. WROI and WXVI will also be informed of closings and delays. You may also check Culver Elementary's Facebook Page. www.facebook.com/culver.elementary.school (go to the link on this page and "like" our page).
- If your child is absent please call Yvonne Shepherd at 574-842-3389 or email her at cesoffice@culver.k12.in.us.
- Also remember if your child has a fever, they have to be 24 hours fever free before they come back to school. You never know when that fever may spike back up
