Manchester Park Hearing Screenings
We will have our general school hearing screening on Monday, October 1st, 2018. All children in grades kindergarten, first, second, and fifth and any child in third and fourth grade who is new to the Olathe School District or who has an IEP will be screened. If your child does not pass the hearing screening you will be notified by Mrs. Vanderslice, our school nurse. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Vanderslice at 913-780-7540.
One School, One Book Family Reading Program at Manchester Park
I hope you are as excited as we are in having an opportunity to participate in our "One School, One Book" reading program with your child. Please note, there are not any quizzes or tests that go along with this. The trivia questions are optional. We wanted to give you a chance to spend time reading a book with your family...no strings attached. :)
So...enjoy the book and the time together!
PTO General Meeting
PTO will be having a PTO General meeting on Tuesday evening at 6:30 in the cafeteria. Interested in hearing about the PTO? Feel free to stop by!
MP Generosity
I wanted to share with you a few ways so far that we have shown generosity so far this year:
- Over 500 bandages were collected by our students for the Noah's Bandage Drive.
- Our community service club organized a plastic bag drive. Hundreds of plastic bags were collected and given to an organization that transforms them into sleeping mats.
- Over 1,000 books were collected by our 4th grade students and families and given to a local church that runs a book mobile.
Thank you for your continued generosity with different charitable initiatives this year!
MP Outdoor Family Movie Night
On Thursday, Oct. 11th, we will have an outdoor movie night! The kids don't have school on Friday, so come on out and enjoy a movie with the family. Concessions open at 6:45. Movie starts at dusk!
We are looking for a few volunteers. Please see the link if you are able to help: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0D49A4A822A13-mpefamily
Please see the attachment for more information!
Dismissal (Reminder)
Please note that the front drive should only be used by our day care vans and busses at dismissal. All car pickup should be done on the South side of our building. If you have a special circumstance, please let us know.
Thank you.
Safety Drills for 2018-2019 (Reminder)
With the 2018-19 school year underway, schools in the district will begin conducting various safety drills. New state legislation has changed the number and type of emergency drills that schools in Kansas are required to hold. The new state guidelines require 16 emergency preparedness drills for each school. Four are fire drills, three are severe weather drills and nine are crisis drills. An example of a crisis drill would include a bus evacuation drill, a practice of restricted instruction, an ALICE drill or other practice around an emergency situation. It’s important to note that these emergency preparedness or crisis drills will be age-appropriate and will look different at each level.
We will follow up with more information throughout the school year with more information about the emergency preparedness drills.
ID’s at the Main Entrance (Reminder)
Due to district protocol, all visitors must present a photo ID to the camera at the front door. Whether you have been here multiple times over many years or new to our school family, please plan on having your ID out and ready to show the camera.
All visitors must sign in at the front office. This will be the same at arrival, throughout the day, or dismissal.
Thank you for keeping our children safe!
