College Knowledge Month
October 2020
Updates from Mrs. Bueckers
This has definitely been school year to remember -- and it's only October! I hope you are all starting to develop some new routines and are still finding things to enjoy in the day-to-day happenings of life.
In the past, I have typically presented the information in this email to our Seniors over multiple full-group presentations and parent sessions. Because things look differently now, I thought I would compile the resources and information for you all in a one-stop-shop email.
Please read through the information below & click through the links to find answers to your questions. If you cannot find something or still have a lingering question, please reach out to me! I am happy to help both you and your student navigate through the transition to post-secondary life!

After completing applications, students must request their high school transcript to be sent to EACH of the colleges they applied to. Applications will not be considered complete until an official high school transcript has been received.
College Visits / Job Shadows
Did you know?
All 11th & 12th grade students are allowed 2 excused absences per semester for College Tours (or approved Job Shadow Experiences).
To sign up for a college visit, you will need to visit the college's website directly. All colleges have links to schedule a tour on their websites. Information about the dates, times, and types of available visits will be on their sites as well.
For more information visit - https://www.pierz.k12.mn.us/college-tour-permission-slip.html
ACT
Next test date: December 12
Registration deadline: November 6
*Pierz is not a National Test Site, so students will need to select one of our other area high schools (Little Falls Community HS, Brainerd HS, Royalton HS, etc) as their test site location during the registration process.
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Use the links below to begin your application for federal student aid - www.fafsa.gov
Please Note --- You will need to create an FSA ID account for both the STUDENT and a second account for a PARENT.
If your parent has an FSA ID account from an older sibling or for their own FAFSA, they will use this same account when completing the parent portion for your FAFSA application. If they need help troubleshooting their account information, visit the link below.
