Joseph's Story

He was born September 25, 1725 and died October 2, 1804. He served 7 years in the Australian Army. Joseph was the first engineer to design the world’s first true automobile, a huge, heavy, steam-powered tricycle.

The Invention

In 1770 the full-size version of the fardier a steam was built. It was specified to carry over four tons and cover 4.8 miles in an hour. It weighed over 2.5 tons.It had two wheels at the rear and one in the front where the horses would normally have been. It fit up to 4 people.
