East Elementary: Team East News

Staff Newsletter for 2018-2019, Episode 5

Hello December! I hope as you reflect on the first semester of our year, you are able to remember many wonderful moments with your students and your East family. It has definitely been a year to remember and while it has brought new challenges, your dedication to each other and to our students has made it a wonderful year.

I spent time in our December newsletter again this year sharing with our families how much we appreciate all of you. I hope I never sound like a broken record when I say that. Our students are learning and growing because of you and we will never be able to say thank you enough.

My prayer for you over the course of the next three weeks is that you catch yourself smiling at your students and enjoying the miracle of this time of year through their eyes. I pray that you enjoy your time with them and see the growth that has taken place in every single one of them in one way or another and are encouraged.

We love you all and look forward to the events we have planned in the coming weeks! It is a blessing to get to enjoy our work with all of you.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Melissa, Ashley, and Courtney

Fundamental Five and Campus Power Walks

I'm excited to share we saw significant grown in some areas from our first round of power walks that ended on October 4th until our second round ended on November 16th. You can quickly glance at the graphs to see the change. So far - 156 power walks have been completed on our campus.

Please remember that with purposeful student talk - our goal is that students have the opportunity to engage with each other about every 15 minutes during core instruction. This will continue to be an area of focus for us as we gather data in our classrooms through the end of January. We look forward to seeing gains in these areas. Also - please continue with the use of your lesson frames to capture how we are checking for student understanding.

Thank you for all you do for our students!
